Dear The Exile kind regards In response to your comments. I agree, you are quite right. Tyson was a tremendously destructive force in the 1980's; no doubt about it. I agree with you. It wouldn't surprise me if Tyson won by KO, he is more than gifted to find some way past Lewis's jab. Thank you for your kind words. From now on, I am posting exclusively on the general boxing forum, so these threads will take up my time on here. yours thankfully John
Dont know enough about Charles to say one way or another so I'll leave that to the real classic posters. As for Holyfield v Tyson, I'll have to disagree. Tyson was like a dynamo pre-Douglas and as much as Holyfield took Tyson's bombs in '96, they were not the same bombs that would have landed nine years earlier. The Holyfield that was beaten by Riddick Bowe (in either '92 or '95) is also beaten by Tyson. Now I'm not taking anything away from Evander, he was/is a legend but I have Tyson taking that one. Can you imagine if Tyson and Holyfield fought the same round 10 as Bowe and Holyfield did in their first fight? Evander's head would have come clean off! I dont think Bowe won the first fight by any 'tactical' method, just more aggressive and more accurate. I see Tyson being even more aggressive and accurate again. Sorry boys, but have to disagree on that one...
A little off topic but have you been banned from the lounge again? Ive been on the site for a few years but dont post that much but always enjoyed your lounge threads, only just recently been reading your boxing threads and i have to say they have been very good and with the back in time ones, brings back some memories lol To be honest i never really realised you were a big boxing fan as most of your threads seemed to be lounge based but you have proven me wrong. Regards.
Dear McGrain kind regards In response to your comments. Thank you. I know that we have clashed in the past, but now I hope that we can be on more civil terms with each other. Very good analysis; I can't disagree with anything that you have said above. I could certainly envision your prediction being the right one. Lewis's jab and ability would be enough to frustrate even a prime Tyson. Let us not forget that Lewis would go into this match with full knowledge of what stood in front of him. I agree. But Tyson wasn't stupid back then, he saw how formidable Lewis was and he didn't want any part of him. I felt that Lennox Lewis would have beaten Tyson in 1996. yours thankfully John
Nobody who posts here seems to be capable of it though...certainly listing his two losses doesn't do it.
Dear The Exile kind regards In response to your off topic comments. No. The ESB Lounge was one of the greatest features on the WWW back in the day from the years 2005 to 2006. Now the ESB Lounge is complete crap and I requested that my access to the Lounge be terminated. The ESB Lounge was great before the "ban and edit era" which began in 2006 and exists to the present day. When people were allowed to speak unrestricted, the Lounge was on fire and hugely active. Now the numbers have dwindled, the very best posters don't contribute as much as they used to and most of the people who post there are posting rubbish threads and posts. I am not wasting my time at the ESB Lounge anymore. Moralman is not allowed to be Moralman at the lounge. I began posting here in 2003, I used to exclusively post in the general boxing forum from October 2003 to September 2005, then I began posting more in the ESB Lounge. But as I said, the Lounge is a substandard effeminate toilet, hence I will not post there again. I am a huge boxing fan; I posted exclusively about Boxing for years. Many posters, such as Zakman, appreciate my boxing threads far more than my Lounge posts, hence this is a victory for them. I am at the General Boxing forum and I am here to stay. Keep an eye out for more Fantasy warfare and Step back in time threads featuring the greatest boxers from all of the divisions. yours thankfully John
The problem is that Tyson supporters also insist he was a shell of his former self when Douglas beat him. But that makes no sense. He was what, 23? Tyson always had the flaws exposed by Douglas and if a great boxer in his prime had been out there before, that fighter would also have exposed Tyson. And Douglas is not even a great boxer.
