Dempsey battered the 6'6 245 pound Jess Willard to defeat. Could Lewis be toppled by the Dempsey train? Will Lewis be helpless before the might of Jack Dempsey?

What Dempsey did to Willard, Lewis would do to Dempsey.

So Lewis would avenge his fellow big man?

Dempsey is perhaps the one man his size in history, who would have a very real chance of beating Lewis.

A good small man can beat a mediocre big man. Willard was a mediocre big man. Lewis is a good big man. I don't see Dempsey pulling this off unless he gets really lucky.

This isn't fat Lewis of the Rahman debacle though, Janitor. It's the Golota, Rahman2, Ruddock version.

Imagine the proud Rasta as well being told that a white man might splatter him and the focus that would bring.

Make no mistake, here. Race would be a factor. Psychologically, how does Dempsey deal with a black man the size of Lewis? He would never have seen the like. Lewis has seen loads of 6'1" white guys weighing 190 odd. They may not have been Dempsey but that won't bother Lewis.

Finally, Dempsey's best punch was a left hook. Lennox was more vulnerable to the right hand. He could handle big left hookers like Morrison, Tua, Ruddock.

This would be a beat down. I'd expect a Tyson-like eighth round tko with Dempsey absolutely beaten to a standstill but, tbh, if Lennox was of a mind, an early blow out would be well within his gift.

Lewis would have been better than anybody Dempsey had seen before, but he wouldn't have been bigger than anybody that Dempsey had seen before.

I honestly don't think that he had any issue fighting a black opponent, if his manager raised no objection.

Dempsey was as fearless as you get in the ring.

He wasn't afraid of getting his head caved in, he was terrified of being poor again.

I favor Lewis but am inclined to agree. Dempsey feared no man.

Comparing Lewis to Willard in terms of boxing ability is crazy talk.

Lewis not merely too big but also too skilled to lose to Dempsey. It's possible...maybe a 10% chance..that Jack buzzes him early and McCallifies Lewis but otherwise a late TKO takes Dempsey down.

I don't think that anybody is doing.

However Willard did have some impressive attributes.

He was that unicorn, of a superheavyweight who had power, chin, and stamina.

Jesus, why didn't they do more with this guy, in an era where the opposition averaged out well under 200 lbs?
