...ut dictum per @Drew101 in the homework thread.

Bonus: as of starting this, I don't actually know what the result was! (have forgotten, if ever I did in the first place) :) That makes it "live" to me!

...oh dear, Larry Merchant - please GTFOH with your "Balbi must be very emotionally distraught at present over the state of Argentina's ongoing economic collapse, not certain when or how much he can withdraw from his bank... :ohno"

Unless this is from Raúl's own lips (in which case just roll the interview footage), spare us your bloviating hack ass' unasked-for paternalistic white man's burden poetic license speculative editorializing on the impact of any factors external to boxing on the state of a fighter's mind. Thx bb. :beautiful:

    Round 1

Dorin is hurling big hooks at the body to start out, hunched forward, then doubling a jab into the chest while bent at the waist but with his upper half in a straightened plank on a diagonal incline. Balbi counters with pinpoint jabs on the backfoot and drops in a few right hands above Dorin's ear. Balbi starting to press in and interlock his arms with Dorin's to force a stalling break, sometimes having to slip and weave around Dorin's left on the way in, and reaching downstairs with parting hooks on the way out. Clash of heads two minutes and change in. Dorin billygoating a bit, nothing intentional, just a byproduct of his pressuring style and Balbi's machismo putting a hard limit on how many concatenate backward steps he permits himself at once.

    10-9 Dorin, close

So far Lederman (rip) and I are in sync.

    Round 2

Dorin is walking into flurries at long-range, Balbi making full use of his long arms to whip Dorin on the flanks, along with a quick patter of straights into the forehead. Dorin grinding him down as best he can, and does briefly pin Balbi on the ropes, getting off a few scratches down his chest, but the champion by and large is scoring en masse, counter-uppercutting with both hands and not only buying himself purchase but turning Dorin so that now the Romanian-Canadian's back is against the ropes, landing on him from multiple angles the whole time. Dorin keeps pressing in, sidewinding hooks first into the face and then into the abdomen of Balbi.

10-9 Balbi, close (but clear, IMO)

    19-19

Trend continues after two, although Comp-U-Box had both rounds as statistical whitewashes for Dorin. :nusenuse:

    Round 3

Dorin is pumping in jabs up top, hooks on the body, and bracing himself with counter-weight looping rights at every altitude while marching forth - but the defending champion is finding him with three- and four-pieces regularly while gliding around him, never straying too far, always in position to score in multiples. Balbi with a terrific incisive double left upper-hook that pries Dorin's guard from his facade and then clips the bared scoring areas behind them.

    10-9 Balbi

    29-28 Balbi

    Round 4

Dorin is biding his time, letting Balbi rattle a couple of flurries down across his face while up on his toes leaning over him intimidatingly, and then UNCORKS A MASSIVE HOOK that spins Balbi's head around. Balbi shakes it off but repeats the mistake of wading in unwary and is caught with another heavily torqued Dorin curveball left. Balbi reaches past the far elbow to spank Dorin with a couple of long lunging left hooks above the hip, but Dorin keeps trudging onward, even as Balbi rocks him with a short left hook. The ref has the physician take a gander at Dorin's face, which is already carnage. Allowed to proceed. 1-2-1 from Balbi, and Dorin sits back, letting it thump him on the chin breaking through his own guard, before again coming off a spring-loaded bent knee to catch Balbi with another hook.

    10-9 Dorin, super close

    38-38

Harold and I diverge at last. He gave the fourth to Balbi, who now enjoys his first plural-points lead on the legendary HBO fixture's scorecard. (39-37)

    Round 5

Dorin is throwing in pairs, often with his trajectories (an upward-slicing left and downward-chopping right) forming a pincer trap, and selling out, pitched forward bodily to give himself the best chance to land - but the flurries and lateral & upper body movement of Balbi have the beating of him. Balbi outscoring Dorin comfortably at mid-range, using quick bows and swerves through his asteroid field of honest-effort slashes to pepper him with counters. Dorin grazing with the occasional hook on the chin, but not able to string much together consecutively.

    10-9 Balbi

    48-47 Balbi

    Round 6

Dorin is making it messy in there, folding his forearms over his face and jumping in with unpredictable attacks including a high jab roped out from his own neckline and rights looped into the body. Counter stiff double- and triple-jabs from Balbi, setting up hard crosses and uppercuts while taking backward steps to give Dorin room to walk onto shots, and to set his aim. Good sustained action, which is creditable to Dorin's exertions and will, but he's getting the worst of it.

    10-9 Balbi

    58-56 Balbi
