And you really believe this ****? Who in the hell is going to drink coffee right before going to the ring knowing damn well it will make you ****.atsch Coffee is a diuretic and is one of the last things you should consume right before you're about to enter the ring, especially a 15 rounder.:deal I'm not buying it. I'm sure Duran apologist like you eat that up but not me. He's not that dumb. He was getting embarrassed and didn't have an answer that's why he quit.
Actually this documentary (to me) did nothing for sugars image. The guy goes around stalking Duran (who clearly doesnt give a flying ****) and then I'm supposed to feel like sugar FINALLY got the justification that was well deserved? **** that Sugar just seemed desperate and reaching. Duran is the ultimate G
Duran came off as a sad beaten excuse maker and delusional. SRL clowned and frustrated him so bad that he quit rather to be embarrassed anymore. Everyone knows Duran is a quitter and No Mas will follow him and his fans to their graves. SRL so G that he made macho man Duran quit like a ***** in the ring due to frustration and then make him and his fans make 1000 excuses afterwards.:yep SRL a G:deal
Duran beat a prime SRL and then lost to the same SRL several months later. No use hating the guy, as far as I'm concerned they more or less cancel each other out, which is too bad considering many say that a natural lightweight beating arguably the second greatest welterweight of all time was one of the great achievements in boxing history. I don't really buy into any of the excusses being bantered about any more than I buy into the fact that SRL never fought "his fight" the first time they met. Dundee said this was exactly what SRL was going to do BEFORE they fought. They just didn't realize how strong and determined Duran was, so at the end of the day it is what it is. One of the greatest boxing performances of all time followed by an inexcusable and highly embarrassing event in the following match. But neither fight in and of itself defines Duran's career. This was simply two fights out of 119.
The documentary reiterated what many of us already knew, but really did not clear any questions...die hard boxing fans knew all the stories and innuendos...The great thing about the documentary is how the outcome of the fight affected each fighter for the rest of their boxing carriers, and to be able to see into Duran's eyes while he told us his version was a very human moment since you can read the pain in his eyes understanding we knew he was lying...and accepted him just as is!! I reality, I always commented I would have like to see the Duran that fought Vita De Jesus II vs. the SRL at Montreal...that would have been the fight of fights!! IMO...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vT6czIYsjcI Worth mentioning the beautiful compact style of Vita De Jesus, out of the school of the great PR traineer Gregory Benitez, father of Wilfredo Benitez...Vita and El Radar were stablemates of Gregory's gym...the stylistically they were carbon copies of each other...
Bull****, Duran was only 29 in 1980, in his prime and whipped Leonards ass in that 1st fight, no doubt Leonards face and body language after the fight was the evidence..
I could imagine what some of the hyprocritical ****s would say if PBF, pulled a no mas claiming, he was out of shape, he had cramps, he drank coffee before the fight lol. People need to accept, that their hero, Duran showed tremendous weakness and lack of intestinal fortitude by bitching out like that.
Mayweather has a history of being in tip top shape. He's a gym rat. If he quit in a fight and afterward excused himself for being out of shape he would never be believed simply because we all know how seriously Mayweather has always taken his training. With Duran its completely the opposite. Anyone thats ever followed his careers knows he was far from a gym rat. He could get away with not being one simply because he was that good. .......against the elites of the sport, you cant disrespect the sport in that way and get away with it. Knowing Duran's history of partying and overeating, you get the sense that Duran might be overstating his story about having cramps, but you know that the real story was that he was far from the shape it would take to contend against a SRL or any elite of the sport at that time. Let me put it this way, if Mayweather excuses himself for being out of shape, he's not to be believed. If James Toney does it, he does'nt have to say it twice, you know he's a fat pig that often walks into a ring less than in prime shape.
you know I'm a huge Duran fan and I agree with this. Duran deserves the accolades when he wins and in this case he deserves the criticism that came his way. Fair is fair. As far as the documentary goes, I thought Tyson's reactions were the best part of it.
Exactly Duran was mentally weak a typical bully. When the fight didnt go his way he quit. His fans need to realize this. If a guy like pbf did this he would be run outta the sport.
