I had leonard win by 3 or 4 rounds when i watched it at the time. Ive watched it maybe 5or 6 times since and everytime it gets closer. I still think leonard won....just, but i could not have argued if hagler got it. The first 3 rounds cost hagler dearly fighting orthodox, and ultimately the fight

I have seen it countless times including live BITD. I always saw Leonard as the winner.

I don't recall that much controversy back then. There was no internet boxing boards lol. Sure it was a close fight but this could never be called a robbery. I think what most people thought was that Hagler lost the fight more than Leonard won it.

Hagler lost by comming out orthodox which most thought was stupid. He should have started southpaw where he was most effective, and then switched if needed. I guess Hagler felt that Leonard, being out of the ring for so long, wouldn't be able to adjust to Hagler's surprise stance quick enough to avoid taking some damage. How wrong he was.

    115-113 leonard

i can never understand the robbery cries in this fight. hagler just didn't do enough and **** all the excuses in the world, marvin only had himself to blame, leonard won that fight.

i also hate it when people try and discredit leonards win over hagler. that win by leonard was one of the best victories in boxing history. for a welterweight with only 1 fight in the previous 5 years to move up to middleweight and beat one of the finest middleweights of all time during the best unbeaten run of his career was remarkable.

it may not have been peak hagler but it was a remarkable victory.

just out of interest, does anybody know what the fighters odds were before the fight? i was only 10 when i watched it so didn't pay mush interest (though i obviously knew leonard was a big underdog).
