same. darcy wouldn't really have the physical advantages he did over most guys, which works both ways but monzon had more of most everything else.
you provoked that response, take it like a man. you wont find many people who'll say klompton's a nice guy with a small ego, but you'll find even less who don't respect the research he does and the fact it contributes to everyone's knowledge of the sport.
Darcy's last fight was when he was just 20 years old... how does Carlos go against that when he is just 20 ???
No, he went and attacked a dead ladies name all through hate.... no that was the last straw, he has been baiting Australians for many years now. I also do a lot of research and contribute to the sport.
I think that we have to favour Monzon, based upon what we can definitely say about Darcy. Might Darcy have matured into a fighter capable of beating Monzon? Perhaps, but history didn’t work out that way.
Darcy might also have matured into an easily defeated, chinny nobody. We know Monzon was a great championship middleweight fighter, possibly the greatest. An easy pick for Carlos.
At least we Aussies have Young Griffo who did live to reach his prime, hell he lived long enough to destroy himself, one of the greatest fighters to ever live but in Australia these days we have a word for blokes like him..... a unit, from what I read he was simply impossible for any manager to manage but aside from all his faults and he had more than most people he had very few faults inside the ring and to think he only ever was at maybe fifty per cent of his potential (it is said he rarely if ever trained for a fight and of course an irreversible alcoholic)..... at 100 per cent he probably would have been twice as good and that would make him the greatest fighter to ever live. We lost Darcy young but we did have Griffo, with Darcy and Griffo there would be no point in Australians following the sport, you have to have heroes.
Griffo comes across as being a phenomenon of natural athleticism, in the mould of Roy Jones. He seems to have done everything wrong except loose, and he won because he was just too damn fast for anybody. With a good work ethic, as you say, it is scary to think what he might have been.
I think that any plausible version of Darcy is an exceptional fighter, but you just dont know about people. He might have become the greatest ever, or he might have suffered a bad loss in a key fight, and crawled into a whisky bottle.
