I do think Cain is a more technically sound fighter than Carwin, both as a striker and a grappler, but he is obviously dealing with a serious power and strength disadvantage. I think he will do well to pick and choose his times to work leg kicks and quick combos, but eventually I think he will get taken down. If he can get up fairly quickly, I don't see him threatening with subs, he might take it, but if he stays under Lesnar he is going to get beaten and likely stopped. If he could work a takedown of his own, that would be very interesting.
I think Lesnar's time as UFC champion is going to end either against Cain or against Dos Santos. Dos Santos is the best HW striker in MMA right now and if Brock stays standing with him he will get his head taken off. However, since Velasquez's main strength's are his wrestling and an endless gas tank his strenghts don't really counteract Lesnar's as much as Dos Santos' do. Lesnar looks really shaky on the feet though and Cain might find surprising success if he can keep it standing. This is a pick em' fight imo.
you were right, I wrote the same thing in the ufc 121 prediction thread. its easy to see lesnar had a lot of strength and power but lacked technical skills especially in the striking department. the worst aspect of his standup was his defense, when strikes are coming at him he freezes up. well lesnar does have some skills and his size still makes him dangerous. Im just not sure he has the time in his mma career to really work dilegently at correcting his flaws and getting back in the cage. this loss might just make me respect him more, I have not yet seen the fight but I hear he was gracious in defeat. now that the hype around him has evaporated I might just begin to appreciate the skills he did have.
