Wilder keeps providing evidence in support of his critics. He couldn't have done better in feeding that fair criticism.

Since when have the top European pugilists ever matched up well against the top Americans? We all remember what Floyd Mayweather did to Ricky Hatton and what Andre Ward did to Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler...

Two guys Wilder was supposed to run through have taken him to the brink.. Pretty clear that he's a fraud and will be badly exposed when he does eventually step up in class.

Wilder is garbage and if he wasn't holding a belt a lot less people would be talking about him.
I mean the whole series of events was BIZARRE, how was Wilder-Scott an eliminator? And how was two C-level bums a championship bout? (Stiverne-Arreola).

WBC belt is worthless and has been since Vitali-Chisora bout which was almost 4 years ago.

Wilder got out-jabbed by a journeyman last night and couldn't even drop him once. Where's the power?

The fights went on for longer than most expected but, in both cases, ended in stoppage wins for Wilder, when he was miles ahead on the cards. The only way those results get translated as Molina and Duhaupas having "taken [Wilder] to the brink" is through laughable hyperbole, for whatever reasons that might be.

Did you not see Wilders face????? Molina had Wilder on ***** street as well, a better fighter like Wlad or Povetkin would have taken him out. Yeah.... Wilder dd not have an easy time with either guy, accept it fanboy.

lol - Wilder was "taken...to the brink" because his eye puffed up on his way to battering Duhaupas? :rofl

Wilder connected on 326 of 587 blows (56 percent); Duhaupas landed only 98 of 332 (30 percent)

Wilder was ahead 100-90 on one scorecard, while the two other judges had Wilder ahead 99-91, both having only given Duhaupas the fourth round.

Molina wasn't as easy a night for Wilder as most expected, with a particularly tricky spell in the 3rd. It is generally accepted that this wasn't a great performance from Wilder and yet that didn't stop him dropping Molina three times, before starching him in the 9th.

Scores of 90-77, 89-78, 89-78, by the end of it, aren't really an indication of Wilder being taken "to the brink".

I think, if anything, this is a case of you getting over excited by your dislike for Wilder and spouting scheit, as a result, because I'm certainly no fanboy. Perhaps you should cut down on the caffeine, boy.

    TL/DR

You actually believe those punch stats? Much of those were blocked by Duhaupas, I but you also believe the punch stats that were announced after the 1st rd. You're overthinking and being **** over word usage here, Wilder struggled with Molina and Duhaupas when he was supposed to dominate. The fraud will be exposed as soon as he steps in with a world class heavyweight, no doubt about it. :good

    "taken...to the brink"

^Nothing to (over)think about - that is obvious, grandiose overstatement, right there.

Everyone knows Wilder has had an easy ride to his share of the world championship and his defences were not against the higher ranked in the heavyweight division. But, even though Wilder took his time to stop Molina and Duhaupas, he did eventually stop them, winning almost every round along the way.

We'll see what happens when he faces tougher challenges, for sure; perhaps then we will see him taken to the brink or even hammered - but, at this point, attempts to de-value what were were essentially stoppage wins, in which he lost a couple of rounds, at most, is a little bit sad, in my opinion.

If Wilder had trouble with Duhaupas's jab, Wlad's jab will kill him.

Anybody can see that Wilder's skills has not blended but it can't be denied that he has good skills and great potential. Hell, Wlad was knocked out twice by fighters that were supposed to be tomato cans. Wilder thinks on his feet and he makes adjustments. He is mobile, fast, good power and displays a variety of punch selections. He just doesn't move seamlessly through his fights as a premier champion should and that will come. He is not grounded the way he should be and I personally place that oversight on his trainer and handlers. I think that he will be alright and once he learns to pace himself and move through his repertoire seamlessly, he will be an awesome champion.

It appears that posts like yours (ones that express a similar sentiment) have begin to pop up online on various forums/social media outlets.

Wilder was one punch....ONE PUNCH...from a loss. Had the Frenchman landed a decent shot to that eye it would have burst open like a watermelon, and even Reiss would have had to stop the fight.

THAT'S being taken to the brink...by a journeyman (at best) boxer.

    Good, insightful post.

Despite having a belt, the guy really is still a work in progress. But who knows how his development will go from here.
