Did I say Lewis already? Well, I'm saying Lewis now.

Bowe was great at his best, but just look at them, Bowe was good yet basic from the outside, threw a jab with average speed, good timing, but no feints, no change of levels of the height of the jab, no change of speed of the jab, Lewis would've figured that out and start timing him comfortably, Bowe wasn't that much better on the inside, even there Lewis could hold him and Lewis was stronger

If they had fought, my money would have been on Lewis.

If this had have happened when it could’ve I think Bowe would stop him in an almost one sided beat down.

Man I'm not sure if Lewis could survive Bowes right-hand.
Think Lewis is more talented but Bows takes it better?

Not sure on Bowe having a better chin, he was decked twice by Golota & Holyfield floored him heavily & a faded Biggs who wasn't known as a puncher had him reeling in their encounter., i suspect both would have been susceptible to their own firepower.
I loved both guys, two big Olympic quality boxers who could really fight and a mouth watering match up.
Bowe's skillset would have given Lewis all the trouble he could handle early on, with the Brit being repeatedly wobbled by Bowe's combinations up close, behind on points Lewis engages Bowe in the ring and catches him with a left right combo, end of.
Bowe's leaky defence and tendency to lean back from a right hand costs him.

Not an obvious winner here, lots of intelligent insights into the probable outcome, for me , Lewis is the more complete all-round fighter , if he had to ( or wanted to ) he could slug with anybody ie: Mercer, Holy, if he chose not too, he could box like a dream ie: Tua, the anomaly of the 2 stoppages aside, he had a sound chin, also thinking he would have it over Bowe mentally , so Lewis to come out on top, how ? prob UD or very late RSF. stay safe guys.

A prime Bowe beats a younger Lewis, but the older smarter Lewis who was with Emanuel Steward beats Bowe.

Funnily enough when Bowes team avoided Lewis, with hindsight that would of probably have been Bowes best chance.

    Exactly.

Like many things in life timing is everything. Bowe was a polished product brought along by Eddie Futch masterfully.
Lewis after destroying Razor Ruddock actually regressed a but He caught whatever disease Razor had....cept not as severe. Lennox was falling in love with that righthand, his balance was shaky, he wasn't snapping his jab. He was a big amateur (albeit) a talented one.
If they had fought in that window from 93-95, I would have made Bowe a solid favorite. Then things changed rapidly after that. Lennox upped his game after his defeat and Bowe ate his depression away.

The Bowe that beat Holyfield I stops that early era of Lewis in 4. Lewis just wasn't polished enough at that stage, and I agree early on he depended on the right too much (as devastatingly effective as it could be). Bowe would have knocked him out cold.

Any version of Lewis beats post Holyfield II Bowe.

Meanwhile, back in the real world Lewis batters Bowe at any point. Lewis, Bowe, Futch, Newman, & Kellie (née Frank) Maloney all knew it.

I will never understand the way many on this board rank Bowe so highly. It's very strange. Lennox ices him rather succinctly.

Lennox always had Riddick's number. Newman & especially the great Eddie Papa Smurf Futch knew it too
He told Rock not to entertain Lennox as Riddick could NEVER beat Lennox

It's important to note that the WBC was going to strip Bowe if fight negotiations hadn't been finalized by a certain date. When it was becoming immediately clear that they don't have a deal on the table, Rock Newman (at the time) thought it would be a good idea to dump the WBC belt with the message that the WBC needs Bowe and not the other way around. So they they dumped the belt in the trash and publicly threw verbal shots at the WBC organization.

Keep in mind that the Bowe camp had actually made a career high $11 million dollar offer to Lennox Lewis in which he makes $2 million to fight on a Bowe undercard against a no-hoper and then he makes $9 million to face Bowe immediately afterwards. Frank Maloney rejected a very real offer:

    https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1993-07-21-sp-15342-story.html

Then he conceded to rejecting more offers.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/arch...ecision/493a2a0a-5f82-45af-b433-cef46e78be3e/

"Hopes for a blockbuster heavyweight title fight between Riddick Bowe and Lennox Lewis on June 18 in Las Vegas suffered a setback last night when Lewis's representatives rejected what Bowe's manager, Rock Newman, said was a $10 million offer, and Newman rejected counterproposals by the Lewis people."

"Maloney said Newman made three offers to him during one failed meeting before Bowe turned to Dokes, calling them all "unsatisfactory."

"First he offered us $3 million. Then he offered us a two-fight package, where he would give us $2.5 million for the first fight and choose your own opponent; the second fight I believe the figure was between $8 and $9 million {to fight Bowe}. And the third offer was a split of 90-10 in favor of Riddick Bowe. Our counteroffer was 25 in Lennox's favor, 75 in Riddick Bowe's favor."

This isn't the fault of the fighters, both Bowe and Lewis wanted the fight and promoters got in the way. The narrative certainly favors Lewis because it appears as though Bowe dumped the belt in fear of Lennox but that couldn't have been further from the truth.

I think Lewis got a lot of mileage from that fight not taking place in 1993 as intended. Because if it did, Bowe would have stopped Lewis. However, I will add that had that fight taken place in 1996 Lewis wouldn't just beat him, he would have beaten him up.
