    Indeed.

Had he beaten Vitali then Wlad could have been next.

Why did he retire before fighting Waldo? :|

Lennox Lewis beat him in the first fight ; clearly, he wouldt beat him all the time. Vitali was not good enough, Lennox Lewis was the real champ. :bbb

    Lennox by KO my prediction.

The rematch is hard to call, if betting money I'd probably pick Vitali. But if both were in their primes, Lewis would win rather easily. When Lewis was in his prime he was simply in a different league than Vitali. And that's not a knock on Vitali, it's just that Lewis was that good. I can't imagine Vitali beating Ruddock the way Lewis did, or Golota, or even a shot Tyson. Not saying he wouldn't beat some of these fighters, just not as decisively.

I think it would have played out similar to the first fight but with Vitali grinding Lewis down to a late stoppage.

Its a misconception that Lewis does great with large heavies, yes he blew out Michael Grant but Grant was exposed in his previous fight against Golota.

If you watch Lewis v Akinwande, yes Akinwande held to excessively but Lewis was struggling.

In Vitali Lewis would be facing a taller, stronger fighter than himself, and Lewis was being outjabbed in their first fight, and he would be punching up.

I think people make excuses for Lewis and his conditioning in the first fight, i think it was just as much down to Vitali's size and style.

Lewis is more variable and accurate with his punches than Vitali. Lewis is able to connect devastating combinations, while Vitali more or less pummels his opponents into submission over time without being able to knock them out cold as often. Lewis is simply a more complete boxer with his amateur background. Vitali comes from kickboxing and just naturally doesn't come with as complete a background.

Vitali on the other hand is leading on the mental/discipline side IMO. Lewis was often lethargic, sometimes appeared to be falling asleep in the ring. Was he bored? Or lazy? No idea. Also, Lewis came into the ring out of shape at times and in interviews between fights seemingly gained what looked like an easy 25-30 extra lbs. Vitali always seemed to be ultra disciplined and highly concentrated, right from the walk-in. In between fights Vitali never looks like he gains a single ounce of excess weight.

First of all, primes happen at different times. Holy was much closer to prime when he fought Lennox than Lennox was vs Vitali.

Second, Holy was in great shape, Lennox wasn't.

Third, Lennox beat a younger Holy more convincingly.

Lastly, nobody said Lennox was greater than Holy based purely on their two fights. Did you even read what I said?

Lewis always fights better in a rematch. He won the first fight and he would win the second. Lewis was a much better boxer than Vitali. Vitali make a tough fight against Lewis, but that´s it. He could not go the distance with Lewis like other fighters. After 6 rounds Vitali´s face was badly hurt.

Lewis would win the rematch by KO.

Sorry but i think this is a stupid post!

The only way Vitali beats any version of Lewis is by doing what he did in the 1st fight and pressuring Lewis without getting cut. If he tries to outbox Lennox from the outside he gets throughly outboxed and gives Lennox a much easier night of it... especially against better conditioned Lewis not fighting with ring rust

Maybe due to the fact he unified the divison by beating Holyfield.

Also... any fight fan with an ounce of knowledge knows that even a 37 year old Lewis is the best fighter on Vitalis reume

prime for prime lewis puts vitali on his ass....

and IMO looking at how vitali looked after around 6, i think the lion takes him out in the next round....

in the re-match without the cut.....lewis KO

 Are you serious? It's Lennox who got better with time. "near Prime" Holyfield lost a year later to Ruiz. Both were 37 years old but the size difference between Holyfield and Lewis was huge and the difference in size between Lewis and Vitali was negligible.

Younger? Holyfield was 37 years old (the same age as Lewis) and at a distinct size disatvantage in that fight.

Still i don't see where you are going with this? LL is still the best fighter on Vitalis resume even though he was 37? It's just that unlike Lewis Klitschko didn't get robbed of victory and deserve a rematch! He won the first 4 rounds, lost the last 2 and near enough had his face ripped off against the worst version of Lewis we ever saw in the ring!

****ing Klitschko fans talk some **** to suit their argument

Don't confuse "most out of shape" with "worst version of Lewis", unless you mean that. IMO that's two completely different aspects of a fighter. Lewis can be the ultimate version of himself as a fighter but still come in out of shape.

I think i may have been a bit harsh with that estimation actually. I think the worst version of LL we saw in the ring was against Raham in Africa after he spent most of his training camp on a film set and turned up in South Africa where he was due to fight at a very high altitude only days before and didn't acclimatise! The overweight and slow version we saw against Vitali was a very close second though
