It will be fun to hear what Emannuel Steward has to say after Wladimir retiers, as to who would have won.
I'm sure he'd pick Lewis. Wlad is good at what he does, but Lewis probably had the edge in every way that mattered.
I don't think Wlad beats prime Lewis or even the version that fought Vitali. Can anyone imagine Wlad's face ripped open like Vitali's? I don't think he had the mental toughness Vitali had or fortitude and would of gotten stopped or brutally ko'd. For sure.
Swarmer is unfortunately correct, there was a little 'talk' and 'hype' but it all ended when Sanders layed Wlad out in a surprise upset. Had it been Lewis that put Wlad down like that perhaps Wlad wouldn't be catching so much flak for the loss, but in the end he's a better fighter because of the lesson he learned that night.
Remember that uppercut that Vitali walked through? That would have killed Wlad and many a large elephant.
at that time 01,lewis beats that guy easy.the vast difference in experience and in my opinion skill and punching power would make it an easy fight.2 years later an old under prepared lewis beat the better of the 2 bro's in only 6 rds
Well this was a time when Wlad was full of confidence and aggressive & Wlad certainly would have been more of a challenge than a washed up Tyson / Holyfield. Noobs forget what happened when confident boxers fought Lewis.. (*Cough* McCall, Rahman *cough*) Only a fool would say Wlad then beats Lewis but only a fool would say Lewis kills Wlad. Today's wlad = 10x better and if if he couldn't beat Lewis so what? Lewis is arguably the worlds greatest ever HW from 10+ billion people in the last hundred years so sue Wlad if he doesn't beat him :S.
Lewis' chin is rock solid compared to Wlad's. Lewis took shots of real bangers throughout his career, granted he got caught twice. Wlad is on his back pretty much every time he takes a decent dig.
That version of Wlad was in a staring contest with Jameel McCline. He's never been aggressive against tall fighters. Lewis was. Lewis would rush him and spark him.
