I think Wladimir has a much better jab than Lewis had, although Lewis had a good one for sure. Power is a toss-up & any opinion either way can be argued. Lewis had a better uppercut by far since Wlad's is rare to say the least. Speed & footwork edge to Wlad, countering & timing edge to Lewis. Aggressive style favors Lewis.
I believe there are a couple of other factors that would favour Lewis, one would be in ring generalmanship, ie control of the distance between the two fighters, pace etc. and secondly is punch selection. Lewis puts him punches together much more effortlessly and mixes up his arcenal better. During the last WK fight, Lewis was commenting how WK should have double jabbed more and followed up with either right hands or a left hook. I think this is something Lewis would have done naturally, although he too had his moments when he could have done much more in a fight, then tended to be less frequent.
Much more importantly, Lewis has the better chin and mentality How the hell is Wlad going to be in a superfight against Lewis? If his first unifaction is anything to go by, against modest opposition to put it lightly, he would actually **** himself. Look how tense and nervous he is. What's he going to be like against somebody that can match him technically, physically and isn't afraid of him?
I don't believe he has a superior jab to Lewis, although Lewis may even see it as somewhat comparable. WLAD just relies on his much more at this stage of his career...it's one of the tools that keeps him out of the dreaded dogfight he's bound get into with somebody...one of these years.
This is a good post. Lewis was more effortless boxer, in my opinion. Wlad is often robotic and hesitates on his punches. I also think their jabs are comparable. What this fight comes down to is pretty much what you said, generalship, and Lennox in his prime knew his way around a ring better than Wlad. Advantage Lennox.
He lunged in to hold against Sultan anytime Sultan got close enough to throw punches hence why they ende up on the floor when Wlad tried to lean on and hold him.
