Nah would have to disagree, he's only really had what... 2 proper "tough" fights that you would say puts mileage on the clock in his career. Gave Canelo a better fight than his brother Callum did and his fight with Munguia was a good tear up
Never seen anything of this Kurbanov, so can’t comment on styles etc. Looking at his record and there’s nothing of note. The only name I recognised is Stephan Horvath who was a whipping boy for a few UK prospects (all stopped him) a while back. Kurbanov won on points which I think is an apt comparison for now.
Not sure. Williams may not even want it. There’s no doubt about the fact Williams is looking brilliant lately but he has demons over Smith i think. Williams says he can still box at 154 but I think he’d use it as an excuse to avoid him. After performing so well in the first Smith fight he just seemed totally intimidated and like he didn’t want to be there for the second one. It was a big anti climatic let down.
People should view Williams similarly too John Ryder. They've both had a similar direction, both capable fighters, who looked like they were disinterested or disengaged in some of there fights at a weight below. Both moved up a weight and looked like different fighters, both dealth with and knocked out decent European / Fringe World level operators since with little problem.
I know handing out lessons in both Beefys head played apart Move up and give the new improved ingle version ago
In the first Smith fight he was interested though, winning every round and looking good. As soon as the tide turned and Smith started getting to him he crumbled and was on his way to losing regardless of any butt. He looked like he had this in his head in the second fight and just didn’t want to engage. Going forward I hope this isn’t because he was scared of the dog fight again, because that wouldn’t bode well for him or his fans. I rate Williams highly and I hope he gets some big fights in the near future. I just don’t think he’d want Smith again, unless he knows he’s in decline.
Decent fight that. Some good body work from both lads. Maxi looked in control all the way up to the stoppage. Don't think Walsh has retired. Afaik he had covid and had to pull out. Hes with Mtk so he will probably get his shot against the champion maxi Hughes in the near future. Walsh won the last fight which was just before the covid crash but it was a close fight and with the traction maxi has picked up in his last 3 fights I reckon he will fancy this fight now.
Yes he seems to really be on it atm does Liam. Boo is a skilled fighter tho but I'm hoping Liam will go and do a number on him. Hes a good fighter Liam and this could be his big coming out party. Good luck to him.
Agree he’s in great form. He’s looking brilliant and I am a fan, always have been. He hasn’t beaten anyone as good as Smith though. He knows it too. In his 2 performances at that in between Euro and World level he left a lot to be desired for differing reasons. That and my reasons in above posts are why I don’t think he’d want Smith. I’m hoping he doesn’t have issues mentally when the going gets tough in big fights because I like him and he has the ability to beat them. Why wasn’t Eubank banging the door down for the Williams fight? Fans want it and that’s who he says he wants to please. If ever a time politics will be put aside it’s in a pandemic. Instead he fights a well below par opponent as usual. I know Williams has the Andrade fight but all Eubank does is pretend he hasn’t heard of people or are below him until the opponent fights someone else.
