I have to disagree with that post mate; Frankie Gavin was very very lucky to get a chance against Kell Brook and imo he was considered domestic level before that fight after the defeats to Bradley Skeete and Leonard Bundu. Would you not agree? Matthew Macklin was probably finished before signing with Matchroom and imo he was used as a semi big name to help sell the shows in Birmingham whilst trying to build up Sam Eggington and the Yafai brothers so that they can take over in a couple of years with a fanbase Matthew Macklin and even Frankie Gavin to an extent. Bradley Saunders only has himself to blame, very talented guy but as was proved in the fight where he lost his rag and head butted the opponent he is a bully and when things don't go his way he doesn't like it. But even before that he was injury prone and the fights he got with Matchroom were supposedly warm ups for the domestic clashes but he was getting injured in them. You might just have a problem with Matchroom but imo they did what they could with these fighters and for Frankie Gavin things aren't over just yet although world honours are out of his reach imo.
It is subjective, but which ever way you look at it my point still stands. Moving to Matchroom does not equal guaranteed success.
I agree that no promoter can guarantee success but it works both ways and when anyone moves manager/coach etc People are always to busy trying to find that better thing out there that they don't realise that if they are good enough to reach a level then they will manage it. A promoter can maybe get you into the position to fight for a title but if you are not good enough it will show.
Well it depends how you measure success. FW has delivered world titles to smith, flanagan, and BJS regardless of what you may think of them, at the end of the day they can call themselves world champions. Likewise Matchroom have delivered titles to crolla, degale, AJ, McDonnell and Brook. If your measuring success in terms of £. Then the rumour is that matchroom is the place to be, however we can only speculate.
Most of them.....thats a stat you cannot dispute. There hadn't been that much movement the other way though so read into that what you want but it's obvious in my UnFish eyes.
How many have left fisheyes and have been 'successful' with matchroom? Brook. Degale, Yes. However: Mitchell Successful? Cleverly Successful? Bellew Successful? Burns Successful? Bellew & Burns may prove to be in the next few weeks. But bare in mind they joined matchroom a while ago. Which again reiterates my point that moving to matchroom does not guarantee success. It's as much as down to the boxer as the promotional company. Does Liam Walsh need to move to matchroom, in my opinion No, he will get a world title shot this year with FW, if he moves to matchroom he's another fish in a larger pond.
