According to the head of the orginisation whose title Walsh holds, it was asked if they could fight over 10 rounds for the belt as opposed to 12, due to the length of the show and amount of fights. The head agreed to the request and tells me (in an email I still have) that the fight will be over 10 rounds. Weather Scott or Walsh will twist someones arm the other way who knows but presumably Walsh is aware of the distance due to ****** being his promoter, so the only one unhappy if at all will be Scott.
Having seen Harrison's two comeback fights now i think his stamina is definately still there, throws alot of punches and still has good movement but he lacks power at 135lbs and above. Scott was never a particulary big puncher at Featherweight and he sure as hell isn't one at Lightweight. I have no doubt Harrison will put in a good performance and give it all he has and i could see Scott winning on points if he can keep his workrate up for 10 rds as Walsh does have the tendency to become lazy. Doubt Walsh will stop Harrison though as Scott has always had an iron jaw and will. Would still have given Harrison a chance to make some noise if he could have got down to Featherweight or even Super Feather, unfortunately Lightweight just may be one division too much for him.
I'm afraid Mr Harrison is too old, he will be defeated inside 10 minutes. He'll be fine afterwards, having a belly full of beer always helps soothe the soul.
iv seen a pic of harrison next to walsh at weigh in, walsh looks like a wee boy in comparrison, physically looks a bairn.
Just because Harrison has got himself into great nick doesn't mean he still has the skills. Look at Ricky Hatton, he got himself into great shape and looked proper chiseled for the Senchenko fight after so long out but when he got in the ring it was clear there was nothing there. Timing, reflexes, stamina, it was all gone. The same is likely the same for Harrison. He'll either be stopped or will labor to a points loss. Walsh is too young and fresh.
Just as well Scott Is no Ricky Hatton, has looked after his body better than Hatton, never took punches Hatton took. He's been in gym for 18 months now, Hatton only went in gym and trained for when he had a training camp. Not to mention fact Scott was a better boxer, hence why he used to beat Hatton too british boxer of year. Hattons idea of defence was to stick chin out.
Ricky Hatton looked like a broken down old man before Senchenko he never seemed quite right i think, but Harrison looks like a beast at the weigh in and if hes even half the fighter he was Walsh could be in for a real tough night.
Agree that Hatton should have had a couple of easy warm up fights first before fighting a Top 20 guy like Senchenko.
Scott reckons 6th or seventh I think it could be sooner, just stuck a ton on the stoppage 5 - 1 now with betfred.
