Whilst both absolute top tier lightweights for achievements, i do see the bout as winnable for Duran. Duran might be ahead for the most part of it in my opinion, Ambers giving a good account of himself both in close and with counters, a competetive natuired battle where Duran would be able to, and would score more than his opponent ultimately. A points decision.
Lou would come out circling, giving the angles looking to counter-punch. Eventually, Duran's feints would set up his vicious hooks and right hand. He would close down distance where Lou would find himself on the ropes being dominated. Duran late stoppage.
Lou comes out strong & Duran stalks his prey. After the fourth Duran unleashes an attack & starts to wear Ambers down. Ambers boxes well but is taking punishment for everything he lands. Lou survives the attack, but can only hang on for the distance. Duran 15 Round UD.
Ambers causes Duran problems early with his boxing and angles. Duran playing the patient stalker slowly starts coming into it and by the 10th is winning (closely) but in controll. Ambers faces a desperate 5 rounds but manages to survive to the final bell. UD Duran about 10-5
I can see we have a lot of Lou Ambers afficianados. How about we just start voting on fights where our opinions actually hold merit? If possible, anyway.
I will admit I have seen little of Ambers. I assume that comment was directed at me, my analysis on this thread is without doubt the worst I have ever posted, I would hope my opinions are not always unmerited :good
