You see, thats the thing though. When you read about the fight? Its all about how Holmes was taking it easy on Ali, but when you watch it? To be honest I thought Larry wasnt taking it as easy as he made out... Larry Holmes was an arrogant SOB with a victim attitude, but I dont want to get into it all too much just now, cos its the wrong thread for this! Maybe it would make for an interesting thread after all...
I only do the brit forum though Kos, thats the problem! I will probably just keep the thread in my head for now, people just dont want to talk about that fight! Funny thing is though, a shot Ali outjabbing the so-called master jabber Holmes in one of the later rounds & Holmes showing his frustration... Just little things like that.
As I say paddy, I will only count my eggs once the fight is signed, but if & when the fight is officially confirmed, consider all my eggs counted & put into the one basket, free range of course
lads thers no way john simpson will get stopped or lose against any featherweight in the uk, imo hes now way above that level and he will prove it when he fights martin.
Prior to the Truscott rematch I would have heavily favoured Lindsay to take this, now i'm not too sure...the fighter that lost to Appleby is a completely different animal to the one that dominated Truscott 2nd time around. 50/50 fight in my opinion. Simpson would win, easily IMO. Appleby has 2 of the fastest hands I've seen from a fighter from Scotland in a long time and he caught Simpson out last time. Now Simpson knows what he's about I expect he'd walk through Appleby with some easy (at least until Appelby gets more experience). Simpson put on a great show against Truscott but still took a lot of punches himself. It's a tough one to call especially infront of a hostile crowd but I think/hope Simpson can do himself proud
