Good on Alex for having a go against a top 35 opponent unlike some other Aussies around the divisions. The result showed unfortunately just how far away he is from world level. Kevin Johnson is only a fringe heavyweight contender so hopefully some local fights can be made with the likes of Meehan now.
It looked like Brophies or Jimmy sharmans tent, albeit swap for the hard tin roof of the Doomben betting ring! And to think Keiza the cockhead was on here under his alias trying to say the yank got paid $260,000 on that level of show. ****ing wanker!
Would be interesting to crunch some numbers if we knew them. But $260k for 'Kingpin' Johnson just doesn't look or sound realistic. For comparison purposes >>> Not sure how many turned out for the recent mismatch in Gladstone. But a full house of 800 would have netted around $78k. Throw in some sponsorship, and a couple of dozen $10 each PPVs, and you head towards a ballpark turnover of $90k - $100k. That's of course on the assumption that the event billed as 'the biggest thing ever to hit Gladstone' actually filled out the venue. Rob Calloway would probably have been lucky to take home $10k. Leaving the remainder, less costs, to be distributed amongst team Mark deMori.
Sounds like Aussie fans got bit all over both ass cheeks. Ripped off by the inept legal stream provider. Had their man fail to beat the Yank. Had their man STOPPED by the notoriously feather-fisted Yank. :-( Dunno which of all that must smart the worst.
