I don't really get emotionally attached to fighters. I may lean towards a fighter in one fight, and then against them in another. Sometimes even in the same series (eg Benn-Eubank, Froch-Groves, Barrera-Morales). My favourite fighters tend to be the ones with the most ability; eg Loma and Inoue at the moment. Roy Jones' win over Toney coincided with me really getting into boxing, and I used to love boring everyone at school shitless with how good this guy they had never heard of was, and how he'd beat Benn and Eubank on the same night etc. Given the choice, I'd rather see a great fighter prove their greatness rather than a big upset. It would annoy me if either Loma or Inoue lost to someone considered below their level, just like it did when Roy lost to Tarver and Johnson. There are some fighters that I used to root for at one time like Mosley and Hamed, who turned me off for the Balco fiasco and being a twat in general (respectively). Historically, Greb is probably my favourite fighter, but there's only so much attachment you can have to a fighter you've never actually seen fight. Barney Ross is a personal favourite more so for his story out of the ring than what he did in it.
