He'd look a bit like an in-shape, slightly condensed Hasim Rahman Average height and weight for a modern-day HW, but notably thick-set and compact.
That means very, very little. You will find that even a lightheavyweight or a cruiserweight is very close to a superheavyweight in those measurements. But when you see them in the ring you will see how much of a physical mismatch is. Tale of the tape won't tell you that. Viewing the fighters will.
We talk about the oldtimer Liston, not a Roid-Liston if he would take them. Furthermore, you can't tell if he could maintain same skills with that amount of gaining weight.
Thats interesting, I havent seen toom many LHs who weigh 215 Ib, have a 15 inch fist and a 44 inch chest, all of solid muscle. Seriously, what on earth on you talking about?
Most if not all elite boxers are roided. It's not even debateable anymore. Lennox Lewis weighed as low as 224 for his bouts with Jean Chanet and Ossie Ocasio, and 225 for his fight with Mike Weaver. Keep in mind that he's 5 inches taller than Liston, whose prime weight was about 218. His weight ballooned to 240+ (and even 250+) later in his career and he was just as effective. Why should Liston fight any differently at 230 or 235 than he did at 218?
Thats an excellent description, DD -- captures Sonny perfectly. I spent a lotta time around him in the gym and out and I was searching for just the right words for the clearest picture. You hit it right on the nose!
I think you mean modern heavyweights wouldn't survive with Sonny Liston. The heavyweights today are the worst theyve ever been. I sometime watch them just to see if one of them actually trained a full 2 days in total for the fight. I am usually disapointed.
I doubt that Foreman was roided when he started his come back to grab the title once more. A non-roided Liston would lose to most champions nowadays. A roided Liston may not have same qualities he used to back in the days, you can't tell.
I don't care if you like Klitschko's,Tua,Peter etc. If you think that Klit-bros don't train then you're fool.
How about an in-shape Ray Mercer, except with much longer arms, a stronger chest, bigger fists, more power and more skills
Liston may have only been 6' 1/2 inches but he was still a big man, I met Joe Walcott and he was about 6 ft. but the size of his neck, round head, hands chest made him look imposing and he was over 60, I met Joe Frazier at a party with Larry Holmes and a few other fighters but Frazier in the 80's was more imposing, his shoulders, arms neck and head, freaky strong, and wide shoulders. Height can be one element but also the size of a fighters torso, Liston was thick and had the look,Tua is a Big man at 5"10 and Toney is also at 5"9 even though he has a smaller frame than the rest
