Possibly. I remember watching Ringside on ESPN Classic and Angelo Dundee mentioned Ali's height as 6'2''.
:happy It's those two losses to Ali that destroyed his reputation. People have forgotten what a beast this man was in his prime. Would wipe the floor with the heavyweights of today.
Disagree.... Peak Tyson brought fear to a new plateau. People were mesmerized by his ability, unlike most big punchers Tyson was actually refined. So was Liston to an extent but his lack of handspeed made him less impressive.
In addition to that, Tyson had a fearful winning streak of 10 consecutive top rank contenders who were all beaten decisively, whereas Liston only managed to beat 4 top ranked contenders in his winning streak. Big difference if you ask me.
I generally saw Foreman listed at 6'3 1/2" or 6'3 3/4". He doesn't look more than an inch taller than Ali to me.
I think Ali is 6'2 1/2, and Liston is 6'1, and Holmes is 6'3 1/2, and Foreman is 6'4. Larry is noticably taller than Ali, and so is Foreman. Foreman is slightly taller than Larry though.
sonny would own most of the more modern champs........his perceived size is more to do with his menacing aura....believe me, any man his size with that power hits ANYONE on the chin and the fat lady is gonna warm her vocal chords...its over.....he actually does pretty well in the first ali fight...and the guy was well past his peak then.....a peak liston is a top ten atg heavyweight, maybe a top 5.....
he'd fare as well as all the other smallish heavies, i.e. a fringe contender. this thread contains more man-love than i can handle. a motel room is in order.
