It's a completely valid and relevant point. Pacquiao was a complete nobody. He wasn't even a prospect. He was a very late replacement. That's why you can't use Pacquiao as an example against someone who is an established champion. Again, because you're so simpleminded, there are exceptions, but isn't the norm.

8-10 weeks is the normal period for a training camp in big fights. There is no way you can argue this. Staying fit and active is not a substitution for actual days in camp. The intensity and focus is nowhere the same. It's why training camps are called... training camps.

Bruh, just say something stupid like Clenelo is the A-side and Smith is getting paid well.

Fight week is when a fighter rests after training camp. Aside from media obligations, they're probably doing some running and mitt work to stay loose until the weigh in. And Smith also has to travel to Texas and make adjustments from the jet lag and time difference. This could be 1-2 days.

    "It's not ideal."

"Just to get any form of a fight was a big relief."

"I was thinking it can't be me, because I haven't agreed, I was a little confused, I was wondering if they were gonna announce a different fight. Caleb Plant or Yildim."

Smith would have taken the Clenelo fight on one day's notice.

I thought Pacquiao was already a former champion of the world at this point.

He would have been in preliminary discussions weeks before, also with a few others opponents. he also said they have just missed out a couple of times on the canelo fight, it would be stupid a guy at his level not to have this in the back of his mind. Regardless he had a dec fight date anyway, he aint gona magically become a better fighter with a couple of extra weeks under his belt in knowing which opponent its gona be. Canelo is in the same boat, he knew he had a december date but he didnt know the opponent until calum knew also. SAME ****

Just let it slide mate, there is no such thing as a perfect ideal camp, this could be a blessing as some fighters are prone to overtraining in long camps due to the psychological over analysis that they are fighting a super star.

Smith's good he'll be a tough fight for Canelo good fundamentals and 8 inch reach advantage but I'm still going with Canelo but Smith is a live dog. Smith had a 6 inch reach advantage with Ryder and struggled with him. Kovalev had a 2 inch reach advantage and Canelo still beat him. But a 8 inch reach advantage is Huge and will make Smith very difficult to beat my prediction, for now, is either a Late Stoppage or UD by Canelo he will have to go after the body early and hard to slow Smith down.
