Rigondeaux pretty much stopped fighting back after he hurt his hand in the second round. Loma had trouble hitting him though. It wasn't very impressive, watching Loma miss, and pity pat the much smaller man, while not being able to do much damage. Rigondeaux was old, and inactive. Mikey on fight night was much closer to Spence's size in the ring, than Rigo was to Loma. MIkey is also in his prime, he's not an old man like Rigo. Personally I've given Spence no more praise than I gave Loma. The praise will come later if MIkey beats Porter, or Thurman. Same way I'd have given Loma props if Rigo had of beaten some top 130 pounders.

Its part of that sjw fad that its ok to hate on white men and their white privilege and exaggerate anything anyone of color does. Its just where we are in the world. Sad really. I give credit when credit is do. No agendas.

Rigo never hurt anything besides his pride and it's pretty tough to land a clean shot against a slick, incredibly skilled(especially defensively), defensive genius and p4p #1 fighter at the time (almost consensusly) who was so badly outclassed skillwise from the opening bell and left so hopeless he did nothing but try to survive and when he got scared of his inability to do that he straight up *****-like kicked it in in front of the world so it didn't happen. And Rigo didn't stop fighting back after the 2nd, he never once even tried fighting back, he literally got pimped out in the center of a boxing ring on international television.

Regardless of you're ridiculous take, what Loma did was beyond special. And what Rigo did was pathetic.

To put Mikey and Rigo's performances into perspective, Mikey had the decks stacked way more against him than Rigo did, yet because he's a stone cold warrior he stayed and fought every second of the fight and tried to win until the end and took his numerous lumps on the chin like a man....... And didn't give a single excuse afterwards. Like all Chicanos I know and have met, what they all know and consider "gangster" is actually having the balls to get down and fight -- win, lose, or draw. To them, being a man is fighting for what they believe in and or for their pride. Whats a disgrace to them is just showing up and doing nothing but try ing to survive. May as well not even show up at all. And on top of that, quitting even when "showing up" just to survive and for a paycheck, I cant even articulate what their thoughts on that would be.

Mikey did he, his family, and his fans proud by his performance. Rigo disgraced himself and his.

Rigondeaux's inactivity is his own responsibility. He is a professional boxer, he should know his own condition and preparation better than anyone. Any boxer who moves weight class should learn all the risk and responsible for their decision. And he was the one who challenged Loma, he ought to back his word.

Unlike what Spence did against Mikey, Loma didn't overcome Rigo with his power, size or reach. He simply moved faster, thought quicker and boxed with superior technical skills. Rigo couldn't even land a clean punch on him. Loma didn't knock him out to the floor, but he knocked Rigo's spirit and will out.

And, by the way, Loma also hurted his arm in his pro career fight too, twice. He didn't complain and managed to continue it to the end.

I think both wins are great, because they were both about outboxing their opponents. It was about skills. Loma should actually get more credit because Rigo is a far superior fighter to Garcia.

thats why robert asked him before pulling him out, his own little bro. robert knew he had to show heart, it was expected. thats what fascinates me about maori culture also, to be respected, you have to practically lose an arm before you can safely refuse to cross the scratch line.

You really can't fault Rigs for quitting. He had enough sense to know when it was useless to continue. Just like when Morales quit against Pac. He didn't get any flak because it was a wise decision. Mikey took un necessary punishment because of pride and that beating could cost him more than he bargained for. His corner should have stopped the fight because he was getting brutalized. In the words of Hall and Oats, the strong give up and move on but the weak give up and stay.

Loma was a FW not long before Rigo fight.. Slight difference between there fight & Spences considering Spence is a career WW who will probably fight at 154 soon.. Career wise that will be like 30lbs more (in terms of weigh in weight) that Spence has on Garcia's orignal weight.. & it's not like Garcia was weighing in at FW as a boy almost, he was a FW in his mid 20s!

Also, Rigo was still shredded & had a reach advantage whereas Garcia was a total Chub at 147 with no advantages..

Spence's starting weight is 147. Lomas was 126! That's only one division above Rigos...

I think Lomas prime best weight is 130 too.
