The only thing that worries me about Walters is that power. We don't know if Loma has a good chin. I've been watching Loma since the 07 W.C. and I don't recall him ever being hurt but at the end of the day that was the amateurs and as a pro he hasn't faced anyone with Walters type of power. Walters is the hardest punching featherweight we have seen in a while. But Walters two best wins are against former flyweights. Walters has been dropped twice in his career so he might have a questionable chin. Not sure if Loma has the power to do it though and I don't think Loma sits down on his punches. It'll be interesting how Loma neutralizes Walter's power. IMO there is no point in hyping this fight up. The winner will go on to have a great career and receive a lot of hype due to the win and the loser can still go on to have a great career; a defeat shouldn't bring anyone down. Lomachenko has everything to win but that power is scary.
Loma and Rigo would be an awesome fight between two technical beast. I am a fan of both, Loma is my favorite boxer to watch right now. I find it funny that other Rigo fans say that Rigo would destroy Loma and Walters yet they don't want to see him move up lol.
OMG bro that would be explosive!!!! Gamboa just has to get back on track and stay active! Gamboa should start re-making his mark at either 130 or even 135 (since Crawford, who Gamboa was beating until he got hurt in the 5th round, is now gone the lightweight division is up for the taking imo). THen it can take place once Loma moves up. Lomachenko has so many amazing fights at 126, 130 and 135; I believe Walters will be just the beginning. Just imagine Lomachenko vs. Walters, Uchiyama, Miura, Martinez, Pedraza, Gamboa, Vargas, Salido, Rigondeaux, Gradovich/Selby. As you see most of those fights are at 130 that's why I don't want to see Loma stay at 126 very long. Just beat Walters, Grado and maybe Rigo and move up. Top Rank better not screw this guys career up. If Loma beats all those guys he'll have an AMAZING resume. I feel like this can be done in 2-3 years I honestly do. They just need to keep Loma more active.
Me either the only three things that mess this up are: Top Rank not letting him take these fights (and not keeping him active enough), Loma's potentially brittle hands, and guys ducking him. I have so much confidence in Lomachenko, I just hope he doesn't have a weak chin or something a long those lines. Lomachenko's big fight will probably be at 140 (maybe 147 if his body allows him to move that high, but I'm confident he'll at least be at 140). If Gamboa can come back to form, I think he'll give him the toughest test, followed by Uchiyama and Walters.
Who's really there for him at FW? Gradovich/Selby? Walters? He already beat GRJ, who holds the WBC strap. How impressive would it be if he became a two weight world champion in 10 fights or less?
There really isn't anybody at 126. Only Walters, Grado/Selby and Rigo if he wants to move up and challenge Loma. That's why I don't want to see him stay there that long. I know it seems like I'm trying to rush Loma and although he's young at 27, we don't know how long his prime will last. Obviously, Loma won't be able to fight Haymons' four guys: Russell, Santa Duck, Mares and Cuellar. Loma doesn't need them anyway so he might as well not waste his time.
Russell beats Lomachenko 99 times out of 100. Serge is right, Lomachenko's footwork is sub-par. Prediction: Lomachenko breaks his brittle hands landing a punch on Walters because Walters is a big dude, and Walters TKO's him on cuts. Lomachenko has brittle skin. Walters TKO 3 Lomachenko.
Expect both to see several more in-between tune up sort of fights before they meet. The cake must be baked, as Arum says.
