Lomanchenko hasnt even fought as a pro yet.

Can we hold off on the ridiculous hype?

Hes going to be going pro into a region where you have the likes of Donaire, John, Frampton,Mares,Gamboa,Garcia.

Lets wait until he steps up to the big leagues before we start bestowing p4p rankings on him.

Some of you aren't taking into account the success Lomachenko has had in the amateurs, where you DON'T PICK YOUR OPPONENTS. Kid's been fighting the best.

Broner is still at the "build the prospect" level even though he's a world champ. The only win I give him any props for is DeMarco, and DeMarco is far from a top-class pro. Broner's people are still moving him intelligently at this point, getting him favorable matchups. Lomachenko has been fghting the best guys in the world and they're even the same size as him.

Lomachenko is the far more accomplished boxer, Broner has skills but he has yet to show them against someone with a similar level of skill, and it isn't because there's nobody out there that can challenge him...

When's the last time someone with 0 pro fights has been compared to someone with 26 pro fights?

Anyone remember Mark Breland another great amateur who was going to be the next Hitman.

 

Name ONE fighter who has been a hall of famer for being an amateur star. It has never happened. Amateur greatness means nothing in the Professional boxing world.

 

Two potentily great fighters. Broner enjoys a clear edge in terms of pure explosive power, while Loma has superior footwork and dare I say quicker feet.

Both have the ability to box someone's ears off.

Loma, however, may very well fight at 135lbs as a pro. In terms of pure boxing talent, I believe he is superior to any of the present 135lbs champions (Broner excluded).

Whether he reaches that potential remains to be seen.

 

In boxing the words 'professional' and 'amateur' are misnomers. Lomachenko is a professional in every sense of the word, I can guarantee you he prepares himself mentally and physically better than twitter and strip club fiend Broner, better than politician Pac and so on. At the Olympics and World Champs you can't choose who you're fighting, if you want to win anything you need to fight and beat the best. Lomachenko has done that his whole life, he is a boxing prodigy. Broner is getting tagged by the likes of Rees. He is getting hyped up for beating someone like Rees. That is the 'professional' game, hype and money. It's not the big league like in other sports, it's simply the commercial/politics league. There's been many ordinary fighters with pro 'titles', how often do you think "this guy won a title?" Boxing is boxing and Lomachenko is the most skilled fighter in all of boxing. Even some Lomachenko fans will disagree with me but I believe that 100%. After Lomachenko blows away some bum 'pros' then the hype will begin for the idiots who believe the amateurs are lower level boxing.

 

Man Broner is not in the same list as Berto and Lacy.

 

I can't believe we're actually sitting her talking about a guy who's not even pro yet like it's a for sure thing he's gonna become p4p #1 and putting him up H2H vs top level fighters.

I think Lomachenko has a bright future, but nothing is for certain. The guy has never been past 6 rounds before.

 

My point wasn't that they are equivalents, my point is that the level you reach as an amateur often gives a good indication of how high up you can go as a pro. Taylor and Tarver were both quite successful amateurs, they mixed it up with the best but were never dominant. Their pro careers reflected that. As an amateur Berto was hyped up but never really lived up to it at the higher level of competition. Exact same thing in the pros. Andre Ward beat the best in the amateurs and replicated it in the pros. SRL, DLH, Whitaker etc.
Broner wasn't accomplished in the amateurs. Maybe he did the leave the game a bit early. He hasn't done anything as a pro yet, he hasn't beat anyone, he is a prospect. He looks good and I'm a fan but getting tagged easily by Rees and almost losing to PDL doesn't indicate that he's going to be successful against the elite. I'm not saying he's another Lacy but there is still that chance. The jury is out on Broner, if he'd won an olympic medal he'd be a safer bet because you know he can step it up on the big occasion against the best and cope with any style thrown at him. We don't know those things about him yet.

 

The only reason why that would be an issue is a conditioning/pacing issue. Someone as professional as Lomachenko is going to have zero problems fighting twelve rounds.
