Round 5 Donaire flicks the jab which Marquez catches on his guard but he can't block the left hand that follows it. Donaire now back to orthodox as Marquez lands a nice bodyshot. 2 of the press row have it for Marquez, one has it even. Donaire has Marquez hurt after a left hook, holds on but Donaire catches him again and down goes Marquez!!! He's back up but still looks hurt. Donaire looks much more dangerous fighting orthodox. Marquez took a bit of a battering that round. There were a few moments where both guys traded and Marquez clearly came off worse. 3-1-1 Donaire plus a KD.
Marquez down in the 5th, Donaire switches to orthodox and BANG, big left hook. Simple as that. Shouldnt last too much longer
Round 6 The southpaw experiment is over and Marquez isn't as enthusiastic this round. Clearly on the backfoot. I feel Donaire could end this whenever he wants to but he's just looking for openings and not doing anything crazy. I don't think Marquez has landed a punch this round. Donaire is toying with him without actually throwing that much. 4-1-1 Donaire edit: punch stats show Marquez landed 6 of 18 punches
I doubt it. Problem with Darchinyan is he can't fight without bringing emotion into it. He gets into that crab mode where his legs are 5 metres apart and swings and jumps across the ring once he's been hit a few times. He's just got a terrible terrible style against a counterpuncher.
id love to see it. id love to donaire tested against anyone to be honest. hes been living off that one punch too long
Donaire has been in sparring mode for 2 rounds now. That's the problem with these fights where you only need a 5/10 performance to win.
Round 7 Marquez looking re-energised this round. Lands a nice left hook and then a follow up combo. Donaire still working behind the jab but nothing more. Very quiet round from Donaire so far. Donaire just takes that, cleaner shots landed. 5-1-1 Donaire.
Fight over, sweet left uppercut. Stepped it up and stopped him, could have done it 2 rounds earlier if he'd wanted
