There was 1-2 real low blows in the fight others where on the belt line or slightly below. Remember Sergei has his trunks up high above his navel so there's no way all of them where low. Ward didn't let the pressure off and when Sergei was trying to breah Ward is on him there and punnishing his weakness. Ward is a monster inside the ring, if he senses any weakness he will exploit it and not like a pure boxer but like a fighter. He ****s people up.
He was hurt and tired even before the last shot though? real bad and tired. How was he going to come back?
Paying for a fight (Fortunately it's free over here in the UK) and then seeing it ruined by poor refereeing isn't 'entertainment'. I'd me furious if I paid for that.
I didn't say he would have come back, mate. I just want rules and fairness to be upheld for the sake of the integrity of the sports and tonight they weren't. Would a foul being called and SK getting a five minute break made a difference to the outcome? Who knows. I think it'd have gone Ward's way anyway, but I just want no controversy and everyone to fight and referee fairly.
Just to quickly point out to those who clearly didn't see the whole round. Kovalev was 'hurt' as a result of a straight right from Ward.....which only landed directly after another low blow. If Ward is penalised for the low blow, Kovalev doesn't even get 'hurt'.
Lets face it Kov was choking on his own balls after that last low blow, it caused his balls to fly up through his stomach and into his throat. Having said that he was being beaten around the ring like a rag doll on a string, and was critically losing the fight. There was no way back. Even had the low blows been counted and being given time to recover, he still would have lost.
Do you think there was racial solidarity between the half black referee and half black Ward, against the white ruskie? Is that why the low blows, were ignored as if they never happened?
Low blows or not, they were never going to let Kovalev win. The ref was in on it. American boxing is corrupt sport. No credibility.
Except for the fact that he wasn't solidly up in the fight anywhere but your head. Did you see the cards? Well you and Lederman, but everyone knew Ward was controlling the fight and landing the harder punches from round 1 on. Kovalev won some rounds but the HBO commentators were spot on, the fight wasn't as close as the scorecards were making it seem, it was wards night.
