I thought his rematch against andrade was a good win, he cleared himself and all the critics of that first ugly fight.
In fact Jean Pascal said he was the "boss in town". You need to know that here theirs some people arguing about who's the best between the two. Pascal was just saying he was. The problem is that before the Hopkins fight, Pascal wasnt able to draw as much crowd in his fight as Bute, for many reasons Interbox was able to find the right way to draw big crowds all the times for Bute's fight. So Pascal was saying, "I'm the man, come see me" more than "I want to fight Bute". If we go further its more the journalist/fans asking for a Bute/Pascal fight than the fighters themselves. Both sides already said that this fight will happen one day, but they dont want to kill the golden egg yet and so they are both doing their stuff and they made effort not to made problems with each others. For exemple, GYM waited for the Bute/Brinkley fight to happen before even announcing the Pascal/Hopkins fight. Bottom line is Dirrell is not available and Pascal never called and if we check at the time frame, Pascal was not available anyway.
Bute doesnt have a resume comparable to Froch or Kessler but does have an overall better resume than Ward - Ward beat Kessler, so has to be above Kessler, Kessler beat Froch so has to go above Froch. Bute was already rated above Ward and has a better resume than Ward overall. Ward has one good win - Kessler who was an unwell double vision suffering fighter, thats it. then theres Green, Bika and Miranda, next will be Abraham who is not a good SMW having just had 2 clear defeats now Ward should due to results be above Kessler. Bute has beaten This content is protected better than Ward, This content is protected better than Ward, the rest of Butes resume overall is better than just an unwell Kessler in This content is protected , This content is protected a European champion, This content is protected who has just taken Cloud the distance and that win put Cloud above Dawson in the ratings, then add Joppy, Brinkley, This content is protected twice who was #3 SMW when Bute first beat him. Understand now. It doesnt mean Bute is the best, but due to how it falls has claim
I like the way there is no middle ground between 'tomato cans'and 'ATG fighters' in this forum, hilarious...
I tend to have a bit of a chuckle at peoples ignorance on here. There is a very big thing, especially from American fans that if a fighter doesnt fight in America or isnt recognised by America that they cant be any good atsch. They often tend to call a fighter a bum without knowledge of who they are, yet if they know a fighter it all of a sudden becomes an event. Just look at some of the nobodies Jones Jnr fought when considered #1. Its not helped by The Ring magazine as they focus on American fighters and give a belief that they are the only fighters. D HAye takes alot of stick on here, but Haye won WBC WBA WBO Ring CW Titles and The WBA HW Title within 24 fights and often away yet gets little mention. T Bradley before fighting D Alexander had a good away win over J Witter, but was put down twice by Holt getting a close decision, thats Holt who was KOd by a lesser fighter in his next fight and hadnt done as much as Haye yet was a P4P fighter, same with P Williams. Still when these fighters get exposed they were never that good anyway
I always get a good laugh whenever someone tries to say he's the best at SMW. Against the competition he's faced any of the super 6 (minus Green) would look like the second coming of Roy Jones. You can't compare him to any super 6 fighters yet because he hasn't fought anyone. His talent and ability are both theoretical at this stage because he's never been properly tested.
Dont be fooled by the S6 tag. Look at Ward, he jas one good win against an unwell double vision suferring Kessler then after that has fought Green beaten by Miranda and by a fighter in his 40s with a SMW resume of 6-6-0 in his fight after and Bika beaten clearer by Bute years previous, next up is Abraham who has had 2 clear losses and cant compete at SMW
Kessler went on to beat Froch his very next fight. OK so it was in his back yard, with suspect judging and a poor version of Froch but that was still a good win. Perhaps I overstated it when I said you can't compare him to any super 6 fighters, but his abilities have certainly been flattered by the poor level of opposition he's faced.
A fight with Kessler will be just as meaningless as Vitali's last fight with Solis. Kessler is Ward's damaged goods. He is half the fighter he was when he met Slappy White, and he wasn't that good even then. Bute may as well rematch Miranda since he's too afriad to make meaningful bouts.
You didn't understand Bailey's point. All the mediatic hype created by Showtime made many (and you obviously are one of them) think that the super six are the 6 best of the world. Every super 6 fighter was glad to repeat this thing over and over. That lead to think that there are 6 super duper fighters, Bute, and about 850 tomato cans. Abraham was at his first fight at SMW! How could he be ranked so high? The Super 6 have shown us he is not so great, right? To say Abraham has a better resume than Bute is ridiculous. Then, Froch gets credit to have beaten him. See, all you think about the super 6 could fall very easily. We can compare because that's what we all do here.
bute can't get any decent opponent's for a while and has looked impressive against the fighter's he's faced. But he has flaws that would be exposed by another top class fighter, his style is a broke man's roy jones and he will run into someone with quicker hand's and feet and he'll be open to an array of punches
Too bad it ain't no one we know yet. Maybe a young prospect but by that time Bute will probably retire. Now I don't believe there's a Bute fan out there to agree that Bute has flaws. We all know that Bute is able to beat Ares and Prometheus in a split second. It's a good thing that Froch, Ward, Kessler, Taylor, Abraham, Green and Johnson are made of God's fabric too. Don't let anyone think that they have flaws.
Bute's fans have said many times that his inside game was very poor. It is now average since he has improved it. Bute starts his fights slowly, his fans alwasy said it. He sometimes try too much to get the KO. We said it too. He sometimes doesn't let his hands go and forgets to go in combinations. If you want to hear about Bute's flaws, you just have to listen to his coach between the rounds Saturday. That was fun to listen and the translator was very bad doing it. You could have discovered that his coach is very demanding. Bute's fans are able to see his flaws, whatever you think. Maybe if the haters and the trolls were talking about boxing, these points could be discussed more, instead of writing tons of stupid threads. Each one has to look at himself before criticizing the other.
I agree. Just wanted to say that his straight left to the head wasn't thrown properly on Saturday and I don't know why. It almost looked like he was trying to turn it into some sort of half straight and half left hook... It actually looked bad being in the Bell Center and looking on the huge screen. He always had a very decent straight left, so I wonder what happened. Now it's more a matter of putting it all together, cause he can throw the combos, has the best uppercuts in boxing and I was really impressed by the quality of his right hooks to the head. If he puts it all together and lets his hands go when needed in a fight against any other guy at 168lbs, I see him beating them all. Of course with "ifs"... there's no certainties.
