Round 6

Bute is wide awake now. Brinkley is immediately pushed to the ropes and comes back with double jabs but is nervously covering up every time Bute starts moving his hands. Three punch combo lunging upwards from Brinkley. Bute jabs from the hip and brings double lefts behind it. Brinkley throws a hook to the body as Bute swarms him and taps him on the dome. Brinkley crouches into a 1-2 down low and Bute looks to land his big left uppercut on a moving target. Bute loses his balance as Brinkley rams his head into Bute's left glove and hip while ducking.

 

Round 7

Bute is now the one moving around on the outside, landing his right as a jab and wrapping it around as a hook to the back of the neck. Brinkley is out-ranged and tries to step into his 1-2 despite it putting him at risk of the uppercut to his body. Brinkley sticks with it and moves forward, scoring a little and still taking uppercuts to the chest but muting their impact by keeping close. Brinkley seems to be out of steam or ideas or both, now pawing with his jab. Bute pounds him with a 1-2-1. Straight lefts are hitting Brinkley frequently now.

 

Round 8

Brinkley comes out strong with a 1-2 but misses. Bute is throwing short rapid counters without much authority. Brinkley has his glove re-taped while Bute looks bored in a neutral corner. Bute begins to unload his uppercut and leap in and out of range. Brinkley is bullied to the ropes but comes back with a nice overhand right to the chin. Brinkley loses a double jab and a right hand to Bute's head movement. Bute now puts together straight power punches as Brinkley backs up and bleeds out from the nose. One more uppercut to the chin has Brinkley down again, but up again...and saved by the bell, again.
