I still say ortiz will still beat some good names. Just watched last nights fight...hes still good. Thats just the way he fights....albeit he actually tries to fight on the front foot a bit more now. His big problem is the only guys that will fight him are guys that can move out of range pretty well. Someone will get a surprise when they see him on the slide and underestimate him tho. Get joyce in with him next. Thats a good fight.

When have I ever referred Charles Martin as a great win? I always stated Martin wasn't one of AJ's top half a dozen opponents he has beaten.

Ortiz wasn't avoided, Ortiz has already reportedly turned down offers against Whyte, AJ and Hrgovic. Ortiz already showed he wasn't up to quality he was hypes to be when beaten by a very flawed and limited Wilder.

The issue is he went down twice, once off a jab. His engine is also poor and Wilder cleaned his clock. And with the lack of activity and his age, he is done at a high level.

But he does he decent power, can be tricky and is cute, and given the division is so weak there are plenty he can beat, which includes Del Boy

You used to include him in your daily resume updates about how wonderful AJs resume was all the time. You've only started talking down Martin as an opponent since it was announced that he was facing Ortiz lol. It's like how you include Helenius in your Whyte resume. If he were to lose to Ortiz, Wilder, Fury etc. you'd describe him as rubbish, but as it is, he's a great win for Whyte. You're an extremely biased poster.

And it was Whyte that avoided the Ortiz eliminator to face Parker at home with the odds stacked in his favour, something your boy does a lot. AJ yes, Ortiz was rightly pissed at his team for stuffing that fight up for him, and what rubbish are you spouting about Hrgovic? It was one of your other heroes Michael Hunter that ran away from that fight.

I've always statee Martin wasn't amongst AJ best opponents and viewed Wlad, Povetkin, Whyte, Parker, Ruiz, Pulev and even Takam as better fighters.

I include Helenius in Whyte top 5 opponents he has beaten. Helenius would be in amongst Fury top 5 opponents as well however he should be fighting better than Helenius e.g. the guy who beat him in Whyte.

Ortiz turned down Whyte when Ortiz was MR fighter.

Hearn stated they offered Ortiz the Hrgovic fight to which he turned it down. As well as Hunter, Martin etc turning the fight down.

I think the issue with going down twice was because hes pushing the fight more against martin and in recent years. Used to be more of just a counter puncher but realising he needs to go forward more. As we all know the more you go forward the more danger of a counter...was more a balance issue than anything else the second punch. The first one was a dangerous shot that can knock anyone down think lewis even said in the commentary hes been down with similar. I think at 42 his best days are defo behind him...but hes still better than people think because martins actually a half decent fighter nowadays.

I dont see the engine being a massive deal with ortiz hes still good at controlling the pace of a fight. Probably why hes lasted to 42. But outside of joshua, fury and wilder would put him in with anyone.

Yeah the same Eddie Hearn that said that Dillian Whyte got up at the count of 8 in the first Povetkin fight.

Agree, his legs have gone, as has his punch resistance. If I was Joyce, Parker, H Fury, Hrgovic teams eg I would love a Ortiz match up next.

Hearn said it, Sauerland said it, being reported numerous places elsewhere that the top 15 IBF all turned down the chance to fight to Hrgovic. Ortiz hasn't denied it like he did when Joyce claimed he turned down the chance to fight him.

First Jackson avoided him in 01, then Louis ducked him for years before Ali then avoided him like the plague. Tyson darent go near King Kong before Lewis quacked like a duck because we all know he darent face a southpaw and even now the top boys are still avoiding him.

Poor guy just can’t get a break.

Yeah but the split and the purse bid won was never going to be accepted by Ruiz or Ortiz who both made millions in one fight alone.

I could ring up ortiz’s manager offer him a fiver to fight me once they get done laughing and telling me to **** off does that mean there ducking.

Also you say Ortiz turned down the whyte fight when he was at matchroom but I’ve read differently so it’s always he said she said.

Ortiz is getting **** for his resume and rightfully so but hrgovic’s resume is laughably bad for a guy who suddenly wants to fight a final title eliminator.
