Surely they should just go after Flannagan he's looked very one-paced in his last couple of fights. Took him an age to get past an under sized Cruz and Petrov while solid is nothing special and he went the distance. Is there only me who doesn't think he's anything special I actually think Linares is beatable look at the first Crolla fight as round 6 wore he seemed to be fading a little bit and then he landed a great right hand and Corolla didn't want it enough after that. The 2nd fight he looked elite level but is that just because Crolla is a pretty basic pressure fighter. Campbell is a bit of a trickier proposition I'm not saying he would win but he would make a better fist of it than Crolla 2.
Has he? The defeat to Mendy set him back. Campbell was expected to win that and not doing so meant he had to climb the hill again. For me Campbell should be looking to fight Linares but if not then Mendy again.
BS. Linares would fight Flanagan if the money was their. The reality is Linares got well paid for the Crolla fights and no doubt Hearn would pay him well to fight Campbell. I don't believe for a second Frank would be matching those paydays simply because Flanagan doesn't sell the tickets to justify it.
An Olympic Gold Medal can be a double-edged sword, as it creates the expectation that as a pro anything less than a world title is a failure. Four of Campbell's fellow champions from London have already won world titles, which could be 5 by the end of the month if Murata wins. I don't think there is much commercial value in having Campbell floating around for the next couple of years building his record and gaining experience. The guy is 30 this year, and probably less well-known now than he was when he won the gold medal and was appearing on reality TV. If Matchroom want him to be a bankable star and potential PPV attraction, it really needs to happen pretty soon. If he isn't the real deal, it's best to find out now and get the hype machine behind someone who can deliver at that level. With any fighter with world class aspirations, sooner or later you have to make that leap. Personally I don't give him much chance against Linares, but if he does pull it off it will be huge. If he falls short, there are plenty of fights just below world title level that can be made.
I think his age is the biggest thing. It's easy to forget his 30 and doesn't have time to wait around until an easier champion comes about.
Even some of best fighters lose so what learn from it hate attitude if lose that's it a lot better fighters than Campbell have lost multiple times went on become great and many more will future. Does anyone ever mention pacman early defeats etc no. It shouldn't be if lose a fight tahts it so take easy option. U should want fight best he isn't exactly Yong and what opportunity to fight a guy linares class win or lose do him world good. Am not his biggest fan far from it but hate seeing boxers talk big fight thenfight bums or easy fights or styles made for them i.e. Khan no big puncher in years (excluding canelo ). Eubank etc. It's no shame in losing Froch is looked on as s great he lost Kessler Ward but gets respect as he chose fight best
Not sure why there is even a debate, not seen anything in Campbell to suggest he could even win a few rounds never mind the fight.
Silly to chuck him in...he,d get beat handily atm. Would it not make more sense getting him in with...crolla/mendy or then maybe zlaticanan. Another couple of fights like that. The thing is i m not sure he wins them all. But at least hes got a chance. Only 30 bearing in mind he,s out about 4 times a year. Be ready to take linares on at 31 with a couple of hard fights under his belt. Linares another year older by then also. Say linares beats him. His marketability dies imo. He ll go down as a failure with pretty much zero good wins on his record. Putting them in these fights with the pressure on. The formula should always be the same get them going in with bags of confidence...with enough experience to give them a chance. Perez not exactly good preparation for it. Talking as a promoter more than a fan tbh. But as a fan the other ones are good fights also and more his level atm. Say what you want but that second crolla fight with linares was borderline dangerous by the end. Hearn gonna get one of these fighters seriously hurt before long. You dont play boxing. You need to go through the right steps.
Hearn has paid Linares large three times to get him over here fighting Mitchell and Crolla twice. And let's forget Mitchell and Crolla were paid very well too and I'm not sure Hearn wants to do that again, so if Campbell has the belief, ambition and is thinking long term he might have to take a very modest purse to get the fight, so that might be why Campbell is sounding more like he wants a Crolla fight than a world title fight against Linares because the purse might be a lot better and he might see it as a far easier fight for him. Linares is very comfortable over here now, he has improved on every U.K. performance, he looks more and more relaxed and I just don't see Campbell beating him at this moment in time.
