These comments are making me cringe!!!! Who is Enzo trying to fool with pish like this, especially after some of his derogatory comments lately in regards to the credentials of other possible challengers. And in no way will fights like this cement his position as No1 cruiser - he has to actually fight a live opponent to do this. Whether Haye beats Mormeck or not at least he has shown he has the balls and talent to step up to the plate rather than been spoon fed stiffs and 8 years past there best opponents. Haye really doe's make Enzo look like a joke and what is happening is cannot be defended, christ even Max Clifford would have a hard time doing PR for this joke. After all the recent talk this cannot be taken seriously......will be fun seeing how the pre-fight analysts try to sell this on the night :dead
In my opinion these sort of match ups by Warren are not only detrimental to the sport and selling supporters short but do little for the credibility of his fighters. After Maccarinelli's performance against Braithwaite they should have been building on that fight but instead we get this - opportunity lost. What could have been a great night of boxing will probably end up as one decent fight (Calzaghe v Kessler) and a poor undercard. This bill is going to be televised by HBO as well as Setanta and I dread to think what overseas viewers are going to think if this is the best we can come up with to showcase some of our fighters. Guess we'll have to pin our hopes on Haye doing the business for us on Nov 10th and hope he stays away from Warren.
Well Enzo is a joke too. Warren is a known ****, but Enzo is happy to hype up a guy who has not fought for 3 years and is well past it, so **** him too. The Gunn fight should have been enough to have Enzo pissed off, but no he is a bullshitter like Frank. If Ding ever manages to force Enzo into the ring I hope the yank sparks him.
I've never been sold on Enzo, I just don't see anything special about him whatsoever. Don't get me wrong I think he's a solid pro with good fundamentals, but FW seems to have keep reminding us of how good he is. He's actually done nothing as a fighter that should earn himself the right to be called a champion, it really does seem like the emperor's new clothes. My bet is FW is hoping Enzo is going to fill the gap in the market that will be left by JC when he retires, but I think he's going to have a hard time convincing the serious fans of his world class pedigree. Mark my words, in five years time he'll be hailed as a long reigning world champion and people will list Braithwaite as one of his major defences.
just read the announcement on fightnews........ and they actually appear to appologize for the crappy opponent in the article!! still, anyone dumb enough out there to buy a ticket to that fight??
I didn't realise Sellars had fought since Bell sparked him three years ago but he has. Boxrec tells me he beat Troy Beets 12-10-1 earlier this year. I can't see how the WBO can rank him after being KOed twice in 2004 and winning one fight since then against someone who had almost lost as many as he'd won. Mind you, they did rank Bobby Gunn.
He did turn out to be a good opponent though. He was doing well up untill the bull**** cuts stoppage.
As well as giving his fighters a 90-10 chance of winning, sub-standard opponents cost less and every pound less they spend on an opponent is another pound more on the SN profit margin. Good business practice for them, crap for boxing fans. At least there's Joe-Kessler as the main event, but the fans deserve better.
you see, I've been saying all along this Macarinelli clown is a ****ing bullshitter and a fraud....only now are some of you seeing sense. I just hope the prehistoric Sellars lands a decent punch on Enzo's egg chin. By the way, Hatton is guilty of the same shameless hyping of bull**** opponents.
