    Betting Odds

    Brook 1/7 Jennings 4/1

    Kell Brook
    Sheffield, England
    24 years old
    5,9ft
    21-0 (14KO's)
    Former British Welterweight Champion
    WBO No.1
    British No.2

    Notable Fights
    TKO6 Win Krzysztof Bienias
    TKO3 Win Michael Lomax
    TKO1 Win Kevin McIntyre

    What he said
"The way it stands, he's the best in Britain apart from me. He's the second best, I'm no one's number two. If Jennings thinks that he is the best in the country then he is in for a shock on September 18."

"I stopped all my British opponents when I was defending my British title, and I'll do the same to Jennings. There is more than a world title eliminator on the line here, there is pride as well. It's massively important to be recognised as the best in the country, and that is why it will be all the sweeter when I shut Jennings up once and for all."

    Michael Jennings
    Chroley,
    32 years old
    5,91/2 ft
    36-2 (17KO's)
    Former British Welterweight Champion
    WBO No.10
    British No.3

    Notable Fights
    TKO5 Loss Miguel Cotto
    UD12 Win Medrud Takaloo
    SD12 Loss Young Mutley
    UD12 Win Bradley Pryce

    What he said

"I'm very confident going into this fight. I've fought at the highest level against Miguel Cotto and although I lost I learnt so much from that fight."

"I've been impressed with what Brook has done. Yet while I don't want to be disrespectful, I don't see who he has really beaten."

"He had an easy run at the British title, but now he's got to make a big step up to fight me. I got a taste of fighting for a world title against Cotto, and now I want some more, and Brook is not going to stop me."

    The Fight

The on again, off again saga this war of the roses has been runing for a long time now. Origonally set for October last year, this will be the 4th time the pair have been due to meet.

Brook is the young gun, he has looked impressive agaisnt fairly limited opposition, becoming the only ever outright winner of the Lonsdale belt at his weight. Trained by the Ingles he uses the winderbank style with slick, fast and powerful punching, but suffers from lapses in concentration.

Jennings is a step up for Brook, but the 7 year veteran of title fights will be the underdog going in. Jennings is one of those fighters that does nothing wrong, but isn't paticuarly outstanding in any area. Totally out classed by Miguel Cotto 18 months ago, Jennings has notched up a couple of comeback wins against eastern europeans. He has a few good wins on his record, but nothing to show he is beyond domestic level.

Brook will certainly start fast, and look to make an impression. If he was to stop Jennings quicker than Miguel Cotto, the world would start to take notice. Jennings has made a good life for himself by investing his boxing earnings, he will not take a unnecessary beating. If Jennings comes through the early rounds it would play into his hands and he can begin to outwork Brook in the middle to late rounds. he has been 12 rounds three times while Brook has never been beyond 7.

The winner is guarenteed a shot at the the WBO Welterweight title, currently held my P4P number 1 Manny Pacquiao. Although the chances of that fight coming through are slim to none, being the mandatory challanger to one of the sports biggest earners is a good position to be in. Top Rank's UD KO artist Mike Jones would be the likley opponent for the vacant title, with Jennings almost certainly calling it a day

    Brook stoppage for me.

Jenkings is a good fighter, but i think the younger man stops him in the middle rounds. He is just going to be fresher and will want to impress with his step up in class. Brook TKO 6

If thats the case, expect to see Brook in some mega fights in the next year or so. While he should stay clear of the big boys (May Pac SSM), id actually fancy his chances against Berto.

Obviously he has to get past Jenkings first.

Jennings opponents so far that he has beaten have been really bad...I expect him to be stopped late fight.

Who is this Jenkings you speak of? :D

Anyway, I'm praying for a Jennings win. I have my doubts, but if he wins I should be making some tidy money on my accumulator.

I think that Jennings will box Brooks ears off and take him all the way for a comfortable UD, or he could stop a gassed Kell late on.
