Most of them power shots. People rip heavies especially or having a safety-first aesthetic in the ring, but with that much sheer mass this is what (potentially) comes from going to war as Magomed & Mike did...
I feel so terrible he's in the hospital. I love boxing but times like these make me question if its worth it. I guess its just the nature of the business.
Abdusalamov showed so much heart in the ring and was still dangerous till the last second while he was already hurt. If he puts just half of the effort to get healthy again... He will recover completly
As of an hour ago, per an update from manager Sampson Lefkowicz (on WBN) he is still comatose until the post-operative swelling of his brain subsides...with no real prognosis of when that might be.
Everyone is blaming the corner for this sad turn of events. But let's bear in mind that every fighter has two doctors in his corner as well. Neither doctor voiced any objection to the fighter's continuation in the battle. I assume that both of these physicians have much professional experience and are well qualified to determine if a fighter is capable of fighting.
Yeah, Magomed was landing 25 punches a round, almost all of them power punches. The entire fight was the same, Magomed would land about 25 punches, Perez about 30 something punches and edge out the round. Every round was hard fought, Mago was never close to being stopped, and he was landing big shots the entire fight.
Prayers with Mago, hope he awakens in the same state he was pre fight. It's such a pity, cause I really enjoyed that fight prior to knowing the current state he's in. Makes you feel guilty.
This was on Przemek Garczarczyk's Twitter B.Grinberg, Mago manager: His life in not in danger anymore; it was close. They want to wake him up from induced coma on Thursday More from Grinberg about Magomedov health: He's alive because of great doctors from New York's Roosevelt Hospital and his strength.
My prayers for Mago and his family. The balls and heart on that guy are unbelievable. Get better Mago.
Pfft I blame his corner.. and the doctors. I wondeer if the doctors knew what he was saying, that he couldnt work his jaw or face? I said when I was watching it was time to stop it, when not your nose but your actual skull starts getting busted up its time to call it quits. His corner gets the blame cause the fighter was constantly bringing up major issues , and the corner did not take it seriously but glossed over it. Usually a determined fighter drags along a reluctant corner, in this case a determined corner drug along a reluctant and physically broken fighter and their incompetence has ruined a career and almost a life. That trainer should be blackballed pure and simple.
Does anyone else find it ironic that a poster that goes by the name "Braindamage" is bitching about the corner of a boxer who is suffering from brain damage?:rofl And that the head trainer (John David Jackson) was a defensive marvel as a boxer.
