What a ****ing joke, & I'm a closet Green fan.

Green is probably a buck & a half beyond the 12 mile limit, if anyone was interested that is.
Talk about pulling the tits off the cow.

These are the same dudes, mind, that tell us there is no interest in Oz boxing.

Try getting $50 dollars for any other serious sporting event.
    Go figure.:wtf:desk

Allright guys, lets let Main Event know it about then. I'll be going to watch it live, but only because boxoncottonon has won free tickets and is buying me drinks all night (not sure he knows about part B yet). But for that there is no way I would have spent $50 on this.

    Bad Blood was $30.

    Pac-Hatton $40.

Lets draft a letter and let them know how we feel, at least they'll respond. They'll justify it somehow but its better than starting a thread here bitching.

Post comments here on what you'd like to say and I'll draft a letter and send it tomorrow.

    Dear Main Event,

I'd just like to inform you I think you are a bunch of thieving pricks. How come you constantly charge us $50 for boxing events that are shown on HBO for FREE in the United States?

I look forward to your reply.

    Sincerely,

    Ipswich Express.

    Concise, yet to the point.

I'm sure the ah, spirit of your message will be conveyed in the final draft.

We are treated like dog **** in Australia as boxing fans. If we lived in USA and subscribed to pay tv we would see all the top level fights on HBO or Showtime etc for free. Only the huge superfights are PPV in USA. Fights like Hopkins-Pavlik are NOT PPV in America whereas in Australia fights like Mirovic-Hopoate are PPV. For F#ck sake.

    **** off I am.

    Dear Main Event,
Tell Leon he is ****ing dreaming if he thinks boxoncottonon is going to be buying him drinks at Danny Greens family night boxing show.

P.S. You would be saving me about $12 as Leon is a 2 can screamer!

I did tell you over the phone.

That I whispered it in German while you were away is inconsequential.

they get what is demanded. boxing here is minimal. real fights will get nothing. if you havent noticed, on ppv here they sell wrestling, jerry springer, the wiggles & boxing. .. im sure that explains it.

While they won't give out numbers, I think you'll find boxing continues to be the #1 seller.

Not many pubs show wrestling, springer or Wiggles.

The problem here is the Green-Van Kneejerk fight is way overpriced, just like every Mundane fight. They cant be charging $50 with a straight face while showing Pac-Hat for $40.

I suspect though the gullible sporting public will buy into Greens comeback this fight at least which will only encourage Main Event to pull the same **** next time out, probably Green-Taylor for $50 as well.

Ip and Francis are right, I would like a please explain on cards that are free o/s being sold here for $40, sometimes starting at 5am WST.

Is it worth mentioning in your official letter that the majority of fights these days can be viewed LIVE online and that exorbitant prices for shitty PPVs will not entice people to leave their computers and order the event on TV (albeit a better quality picture, guaranteed not to be shut down....)?

Maybe we could ask them if they have considered doing a deal on PPVs - the more you order the more discount you get or somethin to that effect?

I think also that the PPV price is not only dictated by Main Event but by Khoder and other business managers who organise the deal...

Thanks Leon for putting in a letter - keep us informed of their response!

Or do what some people do and download them within hours of the event. Its a joke, there may be 3 or 4 cards on some weekends worth watching yet we have no option of legally watching.

Main Event used to do an early bird offer but that has since disappeared.

Re pricing, heres what Thomas Hauser wrote in an article about HBO, and I'm pretty sure it applies to here as well.

    http://www.secondsout.com/columns/thomas-hauser/memorandum-for-ross-greenburg-hbo-2009

I'll draft up a couple of ideas and post them here so everyone can suggest changes/edits.
