I dont mind his entertainment, this kind of stuff usually goes well in mainstream public especially if you're a decent fighter aswell.
While Malignaggi is certainly not as heavy handed as most (or ANY) of the 140ers, you cannot say he gets ko'd by the 130 guys when he took the best of Miguel Cotto (at 140) and decisively won rounds. Also- I am very impressed with a fighter who can land punches at will on any fighter regardless of the damage they accumulate. I think Malignaggi is the most complete fighter at 140- His only dispariging point is his low ko rate. His power is obviously enough to keep his opponents at bay to earn him a "W" and neutralize most fighters' gameplans. Hatton will give him a run for his money- or viceversa, but i don't see anyone in the 140 that beat Paulie.
I still can't stop laughing about how dumb everything about Malignaggi's appearance was on Saturday. The power ranger outfit.. the constant issues with the extensions.. god damn.
It was unbelievably dumb But even so, I still rather like Malignaggi. It's good to see boxers not take themselves too seriously.
I like it how people complain at Paulie's mask but no one batters an eyelid at Hatton's fat suit. At least Paulie tried something new. I also think if you are to complain about Paulie then you should complain about his hair because it affected the fight. The mask, similar to Hatton's fat suit came off before the opening bell. I do agree though that he is arrogant but again, I have no problem with him as we need bad guys in the sport. It is a little funny though that he pushes like a girl and still talks big.
I dont mind all the theatrics , and to day he is a bum is unfair the guy has skill but his utter inablitity to hurt the guy in fornt of him is a big weakness. Even Hatton who (imo) is on the slide a little will surely walk right through him. The hair was a joke but the mask is pretty cool.
