. . . digging deep into this situation.

Hatton doesn't have a belt except for the IBO and Ring Belt. Would IBO strip him of his title if he decides to bypass Malignaggi? I believe Ring doesn't do that because Ring doesn't assign mandatories. Does the IBO belt even count?

It seems to me . . . that Hatton doesn't have to pay Malignaggi any money to step aside. Just give him the IBO belt for free.

Doesn't the IBF come with the IBO? Not sure if they would strip him if he bypassed Malignaggi; my guess would be yes.

Well the IBF Roster says Malignaggi is the Champ and Hatton rated #5. Therefore in this case . . . Hatton is the challenger and he can simply bypass his shot at Malignaggi.

As far as the RING belt . . . Hatton keeps it.

why doesn't Hatton just beat Malignaggi and then fight Pacquiao. I don't see why anyone would pay Paulie Malignaggi some step aside money. And if its cause they thinks Hatton's gonna lose, then its a bad fight for Pacquiao anyways.

Like I said . . . it looks like Hatton doesn't have to pay Malignaggi anything. :D

As far as IBF is concerned . . . Malignaggi is the champ . . . Hatton #5.

Because IF paulie wins... there is no fight to be made with Hatton. Pac sees in Hatton what Paulie does- an opportunity to make a big payday regardless of the outcome. Hatton MAY BE shot- so everyone is biting at the bit to get in there and be the person to retire him. Paulie knows he can ride that name for a long time and maybe even jockey into position for a cotto rematch. especially if after a hatton win he gets offered to fight Pac. He'd have then technically beaten 2 top 10pfpers

I want to see how this goes- love his style or hate it, it gets the job done- if it didn't work, and if he didn't have strength like all the haters say, people would walk right through him- I guess we'll see. I see the back of hatton's head bouncing off of the back of his neck by stinging jabs all night- then trading his boxing gloves for a golden boy promotion's suit.

i think he deserves credit for not taking the money. that's free money yet he chose not to push through with the fight because it could build his legacy. props

Hopefully HBO will have a "Countdown" show for this fight because Malignaggi's smack talkin will undoubtedly be the most entertaining part of this match up.

Why is everybody so against this fight? I think it is going to be very interesting and entertaining. Very good clash of styles.

I personally don't care if he's boring. Malignaggi is a good fighter and should be given credit for facing Hatton instead of stepping aside and taking free money.

And regardless of what people say (including me  ) he IS a world class boxer. He showed balls taking that beating from Cotto. If he was just one notch quicker with a bit better movement I think he could be elite level

You have to give credit where credit is due. Paulie is a tough guy and a world class caliber fighter. No doubts about that, it takes courage to do what he does and he's got heart, he's shown that in his fight with Cotto. But honestly, could he be anymore of a ******?
