This is better imo. He's going to get counterpunched and the only way to win a round is to beat floyd with activity. Being light would give him the stamina to keep that up all night.

Nope. 144 was his weight for Margarito. Roach likes him being lighter anyways, more speed. His fight night was 148 too btw. Pac is where they want to be.

When was the last time floyd weighed 144 or below? He couldn't even make 144 for the jmm fight five/six years ago

This. 144 then 148 on fightnight is good for pac's speed.

It's clear that Pacquiao is going to utilize his speed. His greatest asset. Mayweather wants to use size and strength. I don't think that Roach or Pacquiao care if Mayweather comes in 10 pounds heavier. They're probably expecting it

Yea. It would be great for him to come in big. Floyd will not advertise his fight night weight anyways like always.

Brandon Rios gained weight to fight pac, so he wouldn't get knocked out

They both weigh the same during the fight or Floyd weighs a few pounds heavier.

He won't advertise, but it'll be obvious when they stand opposite each other in the ring. What will be most telling is who can utilize their physical assets best. Pacquiao and his speed, Mayweather and his size.

Practically speaking, Pac has never been a welterwt.

At best, he's been a Jnr welterwt.

Welterweights typically weigh in at 146 -147 and fight at 154 - 162.

Junior welters weigh in at 139 -140 and come into the ring at 148 - 152.

I don't think Pac's fighting weight has ever been above 150.

Floyd is a bit bigger, but not much.

For welter wt bouts, his fighting weight has been around 148-149 (making him functionally speaking, a jnr welter)

And a couple of times when competing at jnr MW, he's entered the ring in the low 150's, which is welter wt range.

It looks like Floyd may have bulked up for this one and may come in where welters usually fight, mid 150's.

This would put him one to two weight classes above where Pac will come in.

This might be smart, but not necessarily so.

He's had a winning formula and fighting style that has worked for him for 47 bouts.

If he wants to change his style, he should maybe remember Montreal 1980, when a similar style of fighter announced he was going to use his 'size and strength' against the smaller opponent.

We all know how that worked out.

Will this be the Mantra of a horde of Floyd fans next week?

"Floyd just fought the wrong fight."

I like this. In my opinion, this is the correct strategy for Pacquiao. Let's be real, chances he stops Floyd are slim-to-none. The extra weight may increase punching power, but slow him down. I'd be looking speed speed speed, and try to win on activity.

Pac will be lightning quick. Pac's movement and speed will be a problem for floyd.

Pac wants to come in the same way he came in for Hoya. He knows Floyd has the weight advantage. He wants to be light on his toes so he is out of Floyd's range once Pac stops attacking.
