There may some day be someone who is prodigious in all forms of combat, from kicks to grappling to punches, but it is extremely unlikely someone would be superlative at all of them. These guys are jacks of all trades, masters of none. In the early UFCs you saw all the styles thrown in and no blending: strikers, judo guys, wrestlers, etc. Then they realized, hey, we need to do it all. Thanks for the tip off, Bruce.

So these guys are competent at everything but still tend to be better at one thing or another. You have to worry about so many different ways to get beat, eventually you are going to lose. So I don't think any UFC guy is going to have a long, uncontested title reign without bumps along the way because there are just so many different ways to take someone out, and you just can't be ready for everything all the time. Having said that, none of them last long in a boxing match (a golden gloves guy with my level of experience completely outclassed Gonzaga on the world stage and looked like a master boxer, when in fact he is pure amatuer, he just looks like a master puncher against UFC guys), and only exceptional boxers with some understanding of staying out of the wrestling range would do okay in UFC. Pac might KO a ufc guy with those tiny gloves real quick, or maybe he gets slammed into the ground from an unorthodox approach. I do favor his style to Floyd's in this type of contest, especially if he has some wrestling experience (Cintron might be a deadly elite beast at UFC with his wrestling background, who knows?)

Aldo would get KTFO in a boxing ring and the opposite would happen in a cage. Would Aldo try and trade with Pacman in a cage or take him down? C'mon did you really need to ask this question?

Bottomline though I need to give the guys in this vid props for talking about the fight. Honestly rivarly or not fight fans are fight fans it was good that he actually acknowledge that most of the boxing fans he met were MMA fans too and knew about MMA fighters. Fight fans are fight fans, boxing MMA or otherwise. Its the "Lukewarm fight fans" or strictly UFC fans that get on my nevers. Those guys haven't got a clue.

It's so painful listening to these guys talk about boxing. It's like me talking about baseball. Yeah Barry Bonds hit that ball so hard and there have been rumors of him taking steroids?

Give it a rest with you're I'm better than them ****. Those guys gave a respectful take on the boxing that they saw. They admitted that in a ring, mma's best fighter would get torn up, and vice versa. There's no need to call them dumbasses.

I've always thought that, if a boxer were to compete in MMA, Manny would be the exact boxer to have the best chance. His style is just best suited for it. Heres why:

To begin with, Toney was all wrong for MMA. His strength in boxing was being able to stand right in front of you, not get hit and counter your best punches. He was never very mobile, and at 230lbs and old, he wasn't going to start then. He was a takedown waiting to happen.

Manny's style is the exact opposite. He relies on his movement to get out of trouble, he never stands in one place for too long. He can punch on the fly, and throw 4-5 punch combos before you can react. That's exactly what you would need to box an MMA guy. He would need to keep moving, not let the MMA guy get set for a takedown. No MMA fighter would try to bumrush a boxer, so he'd try to wait for an oppening, but Pac would keep moving. Pac's in and out movements are perfect to fight an MMA fight, because he's in, before you know it, 4-5 punches have landed, then he's out of range. His punches are so fast, boxers can't see them coming, there's no way an MMA guy with small gloves can block or avoid Pac's combos, everything will land. Pac's punches with larger gloves are hell to take, with small gloves, its a fast KO. Pac will be able to move in, punch from mid air, land combos, and if the KO doesn't happen, he's safe and out of range in no time. I honestly believe no one at 145 in MMA can handle Pac.

It's only offense that these MMA ***gotts talk about and not defense. If they know or watch a decent amount of boxing then they would mention Floyd Mayweather's name possessing those attributes for complete fighting.

Though I give Pacquiao props for making these MMA ***gotts put our sport in the limelight, I still see they don't know a thing or two about boxing. :patsch

The word "striking" used for punches grips my ****, am I the only one?

Although the point they are getting at is correct, two totally different disciplines and one can not compete with the other in their martial art.

I am just playin' man. Pac's hand skills and more important foot work are in the stratosphere.

True. Although I like MMA overall? MMA fist striking hurts me to watch it.

Yeah, but they never mean it as punching. They mean it as punches, elbows, knees, and kicks.

That isn't really true. A boxer could compete. MMA encompasses Boxing and is a rule set not a Martial Art. An MMA guy couldn't compete. Boxing is too specialized. A good portion of the guys in MMA are strikers first. They picked ground game up as a secondary skill.

Saying that Boxers can't "compete" is a cop out of MMA fans used to discredit boxing. If that were true how do Muay Thai guys compete? Is a Boxer a robot that would just let you take him down knowing that it was possible? What now Boxers can't learn BJJ? A Boxer would learn to live within the rule set like all MMA fighters do. At that point though, he is no longer a Boxer or is he? :think

Really? Why do you think the Klits would do well, I don't think they're mobile enough, personally. Although I agree their high center of balance is another problem.
