Manny Pacquiao has only not proven that he convincingly went up in weights to challenge some fighters but also has shown he evolved in this sport, the way he learned and develop as a boxer in every fights he fought. A characterisric we rarely see in an athlete, much more in boxing. :good
He usually enters the ring the same size anyway so it doesnt matter... but the WWs are bigger than the JWWs + the more talented fighters are at WW so in that sense I suppose Manny would look better at JWW.
after taking flush heavy shots from cotto and not being effected.... i would say his size disadvantage is vastly blown out of proportion... paq - 5.6 67 reach cotto 5.7 67 reach berto 5.8 reach unknown mosley 5.8-9 depending on who u ask 74 reach (wow mosley has ****** arms) mayweather 5.8 72 reach hlatshwayo 5.8 71 reach clottey 5.8 70 reach margarito 5.11 atsch 73 reach A persons reach is supposed to be the same as their height... so naturally a man who is 5'10 and has 70 inch reach would be considerd normal. the problem is with guys like mayweather and mosley who have unusually long arms. anyways, i would class pac as a small welter, but still a LEGIT welter. The only problems hr would face are guys who dont belong at welter (williams, clottey, and margarito). Those guys are small middleweights fighting at welter. mosley and mayweather would bother pac with their long arms, not because of their size
tysons best weight was like 210 - 220 and he has a 71 inch reach thats a small hw to me, especially compared to lewis and bowe ect... lewis is 6'5 250 pounds and has an 84 inch reach yea..... tyson is a small heavy :deal
Let's see, 5'6 1/2 who only weighs-in at 148 during the fight night at welter. Regular welter weighs-in up to 160. Hmm... Small and short man for welter. :deal
Dear lord He is short, has small wingspan, small frame, weights below the limit everytime and even at lower weights he was often outweighted by opponents. JMM is bigger than him, Morales was bigger.
Pac is a small guy. He's 5'6. At WW he can't KO guys with 1 punch like he's done at lower divisions. That said, Pac and any top WW KO's Floyd easy. That's why Floyd avoids welterweights like Floyd Sr. avoids cough drops.
Until the Marquez fight, which we had no unofficial weights for, Floyd had never weighed in above 150 on fight night for a welterweight fight. Does that also get him a pass for not being a real welter?
