Mayweather fought Bladomir for a 1$ more than what was offered for Marg. That and Baldomir had the titles. Don't be a fool, Floyd will never do business with Arum.
He was walking through guys like Cintron, who was highley regarded back in the day, he went toe to toe with Williams which you all were very high on here on these forums a 6'3 welter who throws 100 shots per round. then he moved on to fight Cotto, and here is where **** gets sticky, 2 days before the fight, Floyd announces his retirement why? lets be ****ing real about this Floyd had no legit reason to retire, he just did not want to deal with the media asking him to face the winner of that fight thats my take on it there is NOTHING you can say that will make me think other wise Floyd has ducked too many threats that brought in big money he has a history.
if you add up the money this man let get away from him its almost laughable proves how scared he is Ducked Margarito 8 Million dollar payday Ducked DLH mega payday Rematch 30 mill? 40 mill? Ducked Payday with Pacquiao easy work right? plus about 60 + Mil The mother ****er is an idiot for letting this much money get away from him.... Especially when you consider the Pac contract was a 2 fight contract from the get
The Clottey fight(which he was losing until Clottey broke his hand)Williams fight was after Mayweather went on to fight Baldomir. Walking through Cintron was a good win but that was the only real accomplishment he could really hang his hat on. Thats my point, you are talking like he is some type of monster and beast at WW yet his only real claim to fame at the time was beating an up and coming Cintron at this time. And truth be told he probably cheatd vs Paul Williams probably is the one who took Williams punch resistance with his concrete hands. Your entitled to your opinion. But there are many ways Mayweather could have went around fighting Cotto and Margarito if he was really scared of them without retireing. He could have rematched Oscar and Hatton if he wanted to Requested outragous purse bids vs them and claim they are ducking etc etc etc. Arum was going to freeze Mayweather out anyway and force Mayweather to have to resign with TR to get big money fights with Cotto and Margarito. Mayweather imo retired to allow Cotto or Margo to fight each other and then Hoya. Then come out of retirement and fight Cotto or Margo after they defeated Hoya in a huge mega fight. Cotto lost to Margo, Hoya didnt' want to fight Margo, Margo loses to Mosley, Pac then beats Hoya, Mayweather then comes out of retirement to fight Pac who took the place of Cotto and Margo.
His retirement always seemed sincere to me. I mean he made more money than he ever made before in his life, with his ODLH and Hatton fights. That amoutn of money was good enough for him to retire and he wanted to retire. How ever as MANY PEOPLE pointed out here on ESB he was going broke (didn't know how to handle his money and spends way too much). I'm not saying you specifically, but a lot of the people that made that claim (he was going broke and had to come back for money) are now saying it was a way to duck opponents. Think about it if what he is worried about now is maximizing his earning potential for the few fights he has left, then doesn't that lend credence to the fact that he feels he needs a lot more money to retire on. Other fighters have come back from retirement because they underestimated their spending habits. Do really you think Floyd is that different?? I am almost certain that if they said you could fight 3 easy opponents for a total of $250 million or retire for the same amount, he would retire. He needs money that won't run out which is why he is still "working" (fighting) but he does want to retire. I can tell (cuz I want to do the same).
How did he duck Margarito when he the same damn payday against Baldomir? How did he duck DLH. He never wouldv've gotten to fight DLH in the 1st place if he'd fought Margarito cause he would've had to resign with Arum who clearly said a DLH wasn't in the cards. How did he duck Pac when he offered the man the biggest purse of his life and Pac said no.
This just proves that you know very little about this fight, Clotteys hand was Never broken look up the fight and read if your too lazy to find a source I will find it for you. Even Clottey admitted his hand was never broken he had a bruised Knuckle he admitted this in the pre fight interview on Showtime for Corrales vs Clottey just before they walked to the ring..... He was not losing the fight prior to the bruised Knuckle he may have been behind 1 point but after 5 it was all Tony, and lets be real Tony is a slow starter anybody who has paid attention to boxing knows that Tony traditionally loses the first few rounds before walking his man down and beating the **** out of him :deal
How did he duck please get out of here with that bull****, same pay okay great why not take both fights then? bank 16 Million instead of just 8? How did he duck pac? it wasnt just the testing, the moment Manny said he is fine with the testing Floyd went on Vacation again, came back and fought Ortiz, then low balled Manny 40 million with No PPV. I am sorry but Pacquiao has accomplished more at the higher weight than Floyd has, he deserved an even split. Floyd isnt the star you all make him out to be, let him fight Guerrero on PPV alone with out any big names on the card and you will see for yourself his own fans rarely make it out to his fights
agree 100%, Margarito is very undarrated here. He was drained as **** against Mosley too. Had Mosley fought the same Margarito Manny fought, he would get beaten up to a pulp.
Here is the Clottey "Broken" hand lie exposed :deal http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/Antonio_Margarito_vs._Joshua_Clottey Margarito suffered from a severe sprained ankle only a week before the bout, and also had problems with his left shoulder as reported days before the fight. Clottey suffered an injured left hand in round four, probably while landing a left uppercut. He immediately went into retreat and told his corner at the break. Showtime reported this live, explaining why Clottey proceded to lose rounds five through eleven on all three official scorecards. Clottey later admitted his hand was not broken as initially reported
He couldn't take both fights dumb ****. He either had to extend his contract with Top Rank, or buyout. And I see you glossed right over the DLH question? Bob Arum wanted to prevent the biggest, richest fight in the history of the sport. Only a fool (which I'm beginning to think you are) would sign to fight Margacheato, when he could get the same money to fight the lineal champ and then the richest fights in the sport.
My bad he hurt his hand, I didn't remember the details that much and went with the first thing that popped in my head. But he was still winning the fight until he hurt his hand. Granted doesn't 100% mean that the outcome would have differed. There is also no knowledge of how long he was using plaster for. Makes no sense to use it vs a 37yr old Mosley if you are that confident in your ability. None of that was the point though. He still fought Clottey after Mayweather fought Baldomir. Margarito didn't really start accomplishing things against top highly rated compitition until around 06 and mostly after Mayweather fought Baldomir and may have been using plaster from around this time frame.
