In my book, both are ATG's. 49-0 vs 46-0 would be an advantage to Marciano except he only fought 6-7 title fights in 4-5 years. Calzaghe fought 20+ title fights in 12 years.

The most interesting comparison to me is they both had very unusual ladders of succes. Marciano took up boxing late, had only a handful of amatuer fights and had his first pro fight when he was 24! Calzaghe was trained by an amatuer (his dad) and developed unorthodox skills. Both these fighters somehow used these 'disadvantages' of preparation to retire undefeated.

    One thing is obvious:

    Marciano - 49 - 0 - 0
    Calzaghe - 46 - 0 - 0

    .....

    Valuev 50 - 2 - 0

    ....

    Mayweather - 40 - 0 - 0

Halfwits, i'm not comparing their legacies or asking who is greater. I am pointing to the fact that they are both discredited greatly despite their achievements, and that both of their big named wins are discredited and dismissed.
