Scientific studies have shown that over training will have a detrimental effect on your immune system. I've always kept in shape but last year I began a weight training programme for the first time. I was training with a few lads who have been doing it for years and were on the juice. We did legs and back with very short rest periods. Afterwards I went white over and felt as sick as a dog, I had to lay down in bed for a few hours to recover. By the end of the week I had developed a cold, could be coincidence but I believe that session fcuked me over.....
Marciano was always famous for his spartan training, but still i think that some people exaggerated it a little
Of course it is. If people don't think Marciano is often viewed with rose colored glasses by man people, than they're lying to themselves. Love the guy, the first fighter to capture my interest when I was young which got me into the sport, but holy ****. Greatest power of all time at heavy! The best conditioned heavyweight! The strongest willed heavyweight! The toughest! So many sweeping generalizations, and you legitimately hear him called the best of all time at heavy in no less than 4 or 5 categories. It's just a little too much at this point.
Theres a limit but a determined athlete can put in alot, my nephew is a SEAL and goes beyond what many think possible in physical training, the Rock could have also.
Marciano's greatest asset as far as legacy goes was the colour of his skin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If Marciano didn't train as vigorously as once thought then it only adds to his legend. I mean how the hell did a man with no talent and no extraordinary fitness beat all those fighters and retire undefeated....
That guy was so cheap. I'm not sure he ever spent any of his own money. That's why nobody found where his actual money went. I am not sure if he even owned a car or bought a house outright. So long as people were happy to entertain him he never thought he had to spend anything.
Rocky was a GREAT fighter with under appreciated skills. He would have given most all past hwt champions hell.
No one implies he had no talent, don't know where you're getting that notion from. Sounds like you're trying to add to his "legend" by making him even greater due to his implied lack of talent, which isn't something he doesn't need any more of. He played several sports growing up and I've even heard him described as being naturally athletic.
When you consider what he had to go through to get his $$$$ ,I can't find it in me to blame him too much for being careful with a buck.By all accounts he was a fine man and he beat who was around ,that's all any champ can do.
When he came to the UK he was dressed in a shabby sports coat with buttons missing and a creased up pair of slacks.Mickey Duff had him outfitted in some smart clothes for his public engagements, which of course was the plan all along!
