It's funny that's pretty much how I expect it to go for the 30 year old Donaire when he fights a guy who isn't about to retire

You assume it is TR that will stop this and not GBP. That is a mistake. Forget all the **** you hear publicly. It is all PR. GBP knew EXACTLY what war they were starting by putting up a free card against TR's PPV.

Besides, this is old news and nothing substantial. Just a manager talking to some press.

I've said it countless times don't mind mares getting an opportunity before Rigo though I like & respect the talented cuban.Rigo already beat mares & would again but he's definitely earned his shot it's Bobfather who won't allow the fight because mares is a threat & isn't in his stable.

You're essentially saying that September 15 is the reason for the beef while it goes back years and is much more complicated than that.

Golden Boy doesn't seem to have the same issues as TR letting their fighters fight against guys under different promotional umbrellas and it's hard to deny that.

Arum also publically called for Mares to sign with Top Rank in order to get the Donaire fight:

“Well, if Mares wins the fight, his contract is expiring with Golden Boy and so he can do that fight,” stated Arum.

Right after Oscar 'outed' himself things were back on track. Shortly later there was a PPV that TR did and GBP went up against it with a 'free' televised card. I forget who that was now. That is when things got real ugly. There had been other fights between GB and TR before then including Pac/Oscar so they were doing some until then. Both now have an excuse to protect their fighters from the others stable. In this case I really don't think GBP wants to put Mares in with Donaire. Just make the fans think they do and it is Arum's fault. Easy sell isn't it. :D

Like the counter offer for Rios when he was on hold for Pac? Available evidence is nothing more than public posturing here. Unfortunately the lower weight classes aren't 'money'. TR has done a very good job with Doanire's career. Sure GB/Mares wants a piece of that but it is a small pie to start with and GB has safer opponents for Mares right now. The Mares I saw in his last fight is easy pickings for Donaire and even GBP has to know that. Have you seen GB put forth a REAL offer? Let's wait and see how Mares' manager does before we get carried away blaming one side or the other. There are tons of fights that never get made over money that don't involve TR or GB and it all comes down to money with them. If the money is there the fight will get made. My gut feeling is GB will price Mares to high to protect him from Donaire and blame TR. Donaire is a top p4p right now and holds the winning negotiating hand.
