What's Cotto going to do? Become a cardio machine that can all of the sudden take the punches and the punishment that he couldn't take before? Yeah right. It takes a long time to become the combination of power and incredible stamina that is Margarito. Some would argue that its simply genetics. You can't train chin.

Yeah its possible that Cotto will get beat the **** down again. But its also possible that he can do what he was doing for the first 6 rounds of the fight, the whole 12. I will definitely be catching this fight if its made.

He wasnt winning the first 6 rounds either. Where the hell is this coming from that Cotto was "outboxing" Margarito? Margarito started grinding Cotto down from the very first round. Cotto was going back to his corner steadily more battered in each successive round, even the rounds he was "winning". Cotto may have won rounds, but Margarito was the one doing the damage in every single round, and there wasnt any round that Cotto had Margarito hurt. Even in Cottos best rounds he looked desperate, throwing everything he had at Margarito and he saw how it wasnt stopping him.

I gave Cotto atleast the 1st 5 rounds. I believe the judges were right along that line of thinking aswell. The fight was very close when Cotto was first dropped.
Umm, the rapid snaps of Margarito's head back and fourth like a jack in the box?
I would agree with that. But the rounds he won, which was a vast majority of the first half of the fight, he was landing the cleaner blows. Obviously Margarito's one shot to the gut, hurt more the Cotto's 4 shots to the dome. But again, this is boxing, its not easy to score damage to the body, like it is to the head which is more visible.

Cotto's stamina failed him. Around the 6th, 7th round his legs gave and he couldnt stick and move, thats when Margarito finally caught him.

Cotto's stamina didnt fail him, the punches to his liver and kidneys are what did him in. Margarito was landing the harder shots that were doing damage.

Cotto could win, but it's an even taller order the second time around.

Now Williams -- I believe Margarito, at this point in time with the confidence he has and the first match fresh in his mind -- would be beaten more easily. I think Antonio would fight like a man possessed from the opening bell and break him down the second time around.

Definitely. Cotto works hard in the gym, and was by no means inadequately prepared. He was just hit bluntly, hard and often.

I can't agree here. What can Cotto do differently? Margarito can take his best shots and plus he puts massive pressure on the other guy.

Margarito reminds me of Rocky Marciano. Sure, you can outbox him for a while and make him look ordinary, but he wears you down, wears you down, wears you down.

Cotto can run but he can't hide.

the knee jerk reaction I had was pretty similar I thought he took too much of a beating, but if he comes back well against Cintron, and keeps to a back footed counterpunching style against Margo he could win a decision. alot of maybe's there though...
