I don't know if trashtalking will work against a quiet champ in Cotto. If anything, it will probably backfire and create an X-factor in favor of Cotto. Something in the back of my mind tellss me that with all the pressure Margarito will put on in this fight, I believe Cotto will show fans another level. Essentially, this fight will bring the best out of Cotto like Hatton brought the best out of Mayweather.
Seriously, I've voiced my skepticism more often than Margarito fans can stomach but I nonetheless fail to see how Cotto would get an early ko. A wide UD will likely be the outcome.
yes, we have seen what happens??? Have you??? Obviously you havent b/c the 3 people he visibly had Cotto hurt ALL lost by KO/TKO!!!
get the sand out your vagina. He has been hurt before by lesser punchers, and none them with the finishing tenacity of Margo. that's the point why didn't you bold the 6ft tall 160+ pounder part? If you respond try not to sound like a fan boy who got his feelings hurt. this is a forum where we share opinions, you don't have to argee.
It may have created that X-factor already when at the press conf. Margo told cotto to train extra hard to be at 100% and Cotto responed by saying he doesnt have to train extra for this fight he always comes in 100%
IMO, he has to, do or die. If Cotto can't show fans another level he's going to have some serious problems. He has to go to another level. I'm not going to put it past him though. He's done it before, he can do it again - unless we've already seen every magic trick he's got already. He did say that he put it all on the table with Mosley. If that was it, he's a dead man.
I really hope that isn't true because if that is, Margarito will be the one that may get caught with a well-timed punch. If I were Margarito's trainer, I would have Margarito apply a steady onslaught, while being careful to not just wade in and take stupid shots. That would be suicide. I say take Cotto into deep waters and try and drown him.
It was a shot to the chin that Margarito didn't see coming. Besides, Santos isn't featherfisted and he weighed in at 170-175+ that night.
He will do what works the best for him. He will lead in behind a jab and keep a good distance on his punches. And he will unleash the left hook downstairs after he throws the right upstairs. So if Cotto gets any ideas of countering with his own left hook he'll be open. He'll force Cotto to come inside which will make Cotto a bit more predictable and easier to hit. Everytime Cotto moves inside he's gonna taste uppercuts to his stomach and chin. The longer Cotto sits inside the more uppercuts he will taste. Both upstairs and downstairs. I visualize Cotto trying to get in by leading with well placed punches. Just simple 1s and 2s and getting out. The problem for him will be Margarito's reach and if he comes prepared, the long jab and the two step back. Anytime Cotto moves forward Margarito can take those steps back and come right back with an uppercut. Cotto's lead right will have more trouble against Margarito than against Mosley because Margarito is a bit longer and can simply take a step back, pull up his guard and make Cotto miss. Cotto imo had better hope Margarito sprains that ankle again. That is the only way Margarito will be standing on his front foot all night. Aka, open to short counters.
What you wrote is reasonable and could happen. I'm just worried that Margarito will get OVERconfident and get hurt early. It could cost him dearly!!
