Brilliant post. I totally agree. Not sure what round it would be in, the KO, but it would be before 11, IMO.
If they make an immediate rematch then that will happen, Cotto needs some time off then a decent fight after it and he will be ready for a rematch if he wants it.
Cotto didnt get KOd, his corner threw in the towel, so to say he gets KOd faster in a rematch, incorrect.
Because I had him winning by a round also and anyway I seen the fight about 3x already. Yes it was a close fight, and of course that's why margo was was taking over, because of the body shots and uppercuts. Overall it was a good night for boxing and one of the best fights I ever seen.
I'll Give it a little time before I say Cotto's done like Meldrick Taylor after Chavez #1. Let's remember Joe Louis was pretty thrashed by Schmeling in their first fight. Then you've got Hearns loses to Leonard & Haglar, or Duran's loss to Hearns.
That's what's known as a TKO, which is a variation of a KO. Look, if you want me to say Cotto will quit faster in a rematch, I can. Whatever works for you.
pwright2k -- Great posts, especially about Cotto's surrendering and HBO's sadness as their new Jermaine Taylor getting Pavliked.
The way Cotto fought was very competetive and I myself had it 95-95 if im not mistaking like one of the judges. Cotto could learn from this defeat, the guy was fighting with a bloody nose since the beginning of the fight which affects breathing throughout the whole fight. Many rumors his training and relationship with his uncle was real negative. Cotto could've gone more into using his southpaw stance or body attack. Even learning though many fans hate using a clinch here and there, like the greats Hopkins, Mosley, Mayweather do. Cotto could've chosen to box even more, but decided at time to trade with Margarito and give the fans a great fight. Anyone knowing Cotto he most def. would like a rematch with Margarito in the near future. The guy has only been a pro for 7 years and look at the level he has reach.
