Anybody else think Margarittos gonna hang around fighting people he beat before the wrap scandal for paydays. Martinez, Cotto and Clottey all said they think he may have used the wraps in their fights and would like to redeem the losses.
Cotto never really was that good........just not exciting......Margrito.....well with no plaster he can't beat anyone down........so to me it matters not if they fight at all. ....a who cares of has bins.:bbb
I honestly thought Cotto looked very good in this fight. He controlled most of it with a fantastic jab, he used the right hand a lot more, he worked the body like he used to and his left hook counters were fantastic. He was constantly in balance to throw counters so you can clearly see the effect Steward has had on him. However, he still catches far to many right hands, maybe holding his left higher would help, and by round 8 his movement wasn't what it had been the rest of night, perhaps he was tiring by then. As far as a Margo rematch goes, it's still a very competitive fight, but Cotto definitely can take the victory. If he can use that check hook to off set Margo's offense and if he can slow the pace, or fight at a higher pace for longer he can take a points victory. I'm not saying he will, but he stands a damn good chance.
This. The wraps, if ever it was used when they fought, didn't make a difference then, wouldn't make a difference the second time. Especially seeing Cotto's last performance.
Martinez said he would be worried about marg's health if they fought again today. Martinez did held marg by acting as a sparring partner for the emmanuel fight.
Why doesn't Steward teach Cotto how to clinch? It's no secret that Cotto doesn't have the best stamina and a glass face. THis defensive maneuver would only help him.
Wrong! Martinez is on record as saying that if Margarito has used plaster, it did'nt happen against him. "I got beat fair and square."......is what Martinez said. ......now having said that, the Margarito loss was a long time ago for Martinez. Martinez has evolved his skills and is a better fighter now.
