Cotto needs to put together combinations and not allow Margo to load up on his power shots. Cotto hit Margo with some big shots, but most of them were single power shots. Then he tried to move and was, at times, caught. The moving and the shots he was taking were too much for Cotto. SSM stood in front of Margo and clinched when he had to; Cotto better get over his idea of "no-clinch" bravado. SSM had enough faith in his chin and his footwork to stay safe in the pocket against AM, who is admittedly one-dimensional and not a technical boxer. Does Cotto have the confidence to stand in front of AM, throw combinations and then make the right decision about small movements or clinching? If so, AM won't be able to catch him, unless Cotto's feet are not fast enough. Remember, SSM is a shoe-in HOF boxer-puncher. We can all talk big until we get smashed in the face and our bones feel tingly. This analysis all comes down to the old adage "styles make fights". Cotto has built a career on stalk and destroy. Now he is being stalked and destroyed. Can he change? If he can't he will have a repeat performance like Cintron. If he can adjust, as he did to some degree in his fight with SSM, he might succeed. First things first, he needs his confidence back and flattening cannon fodder is a start but definitely not the end.

JMM has never been koed and Calzaghe has never lost and both have fought good opposition so please explain. Cotto's chin held up just fine against Mosley and even Margo. YES I SAID MARGO! It was clear as day that Cotto lost because he was overwhelmed by the volume of punches and not because he has a weak chin or Margo having concussive power. And at this point the bigger question is how Margo will recover because his iron chin was smashed to pieces by Mosley. People keep saying Cotto might be mentally scared after his defeat to Margo; well he has comeback and proven otherwise. What remains to be seen is how Margo responds to both his embarrassing loss and the shame of being exposed as a cheater.
