Because like you said, I think Pacquiao will want to retire after the Mayweather bout, if and when it happens...but if he were to trial it out against Margarito, and this would allow them easier negotiations, and the fight Pacquiao wants...why not?
so you are talking about the pac-floyd fight only and not boxing as a whole. if floyd has the right to exercise his demand, then pac has also the right to refuse it. that's why they should come to terms. 14 days cut-off was floyd's first term and pac agreeed to it this time around. i think that's a better compromise to make this fight.
Me making a thread about drug testing is irrelevant as to why Pac and many of his fans are against it.:deal You have to wonder why they're so against this measure that both will partake in BTW that ensures a clean fight?:think If you have nothing to hide you test and in the process silence any critics you have.
we don't know what pac did agreed when arum, haymon and greenburg negotiated. it might be the 14 days cut-off which was floyd's previous terms or it could be a full olympic style testing. so i don't think this is the real issue why the fight is hard to make. if pac would implement this in the margo fight, that would mean he is that interested in a floyd fight but there is no guarantee that it would make negotiations easier next time. so many factors involved.
Yeah I agree with what your saying, but I still think there would be more benefits from this, assuming the testing doesn't effect Pacquiao. The main benefit being...proving that he is a clean fighter. I think he's clean, but I still think he needs to go through the testing Mayweather went through in the Mosley bout (not because Mayweather says so)...just to clear his name and erase the damage Mayweather's camp, and his own camp has done to his image.
I understand what you're saying. My point is that a lot of fans will be asking why accept a random blood test w/ AM and not do it w/ FMJ. Pac haters will say Pac doesn't need to be on PEDs to beat AM but needs it to beat FMJ. You see how this things can be interpreted?
Both guys have a right to do whatever he wants without breaking the rules. I'm completely fine with that. They'll have to face the consequences of their actions though. Refusing a blood test will cause people to suspect Pac of cheating. And refusing to fight later this year will get people to think you're a coward. Those are just some of the things fighters have deal with. I'd say Floyd deals with it better than Pac does since he's not lashing out or filing a lawsuit against defamation of character. Pac should've agreed to the 14 day deal the first time. He also would've gotten a 50/50 split which is amazing when Floyd actually agrees to that. Team Pac messed up the first time. But I don't put blame solely on one party. There's enough of it to go around for every major player.
Yeah definitely...but after the last round of negotiations, to the casual fan...it's Pacquiao who has come off the better. We don't know what was agreed to when Arum claimed 'we agreed to everything Mayweather wants', etc...but thats all the majority of casual fans will have heard, Pacquiao agreed to everything Mayweather wanted and Mayweather went on vacation. If they went about the same testing they were willing to when they "agreed to" when negotiating with Mayweather last time out...it will only show further proof that they want the Mayweather bout next, and that Pacquiao is clean.
mosley agreed to this because he has to. floyd and GBP are deep into these USADA thing that they should implement it in floyd's next fight or be labelled picking on pacquiao only. mosley has no real choice to get this fight that he wants and as partner of GBP. i think pac would just have to maintain his stand regarding this. damaged has been done but objective people mostly would see this. implementing it in the margo fight would just weaken pac's stand and would make floyd believe that he can make pac do anything he wants. if i am pac, i would just continue doing what he is doing now except maybe perhaps shitting on arum once in a while.
i agree mostly on what you are saying but remember that 50-50 is not amazing for floyd back then. he just had one fight after a long break and pac was on amazing streak. pac also has the better PPV that time (floyd-jmm and pac-cotto) so 50-50 is not really bad for floyd. floyd handled it better last time but handled it poorly this time. i just don't get why he has to stall on a fight like this. pac maybe retiring soon and floyd might miss this one. he is not the only one needed to make this fight.
I honestly still think Pacquiao needs to go through the extra testing before he retires to clean up his image, whether he gets the bout with Mayweather or not. I would say the same about any boxer aswell. It's clear the whole thing effected him, otherwise he wouldn't have filed a lawsuit. He has the chance to prove people wrong before a possible bout with Mayweather, whilst not giving Mayweather the satisfaction of being the person to get Pacquiao to agree to the tests. This is why I disagree with the, it'll weaken Pacquiao's stand...it will show that he is more than ready to step in the ring with Mayweather, and the reason it will give Pacquiao the upper hand is because Mayweather won't expect it.
